Thread: Which one?...Template Question

Ok I've asked a lot of template questions lately, thanks all for bearing with me... With Pub 19 coming out in the not so distant future, I figure that the CM skills I have will be guaranteed to be worthwhile, so if I want to try out a straight combat mix double xp week is the time to get it going.

Question this time is:

MBH / MR / Pistols 0-4-0-4

or

MBH / MP / Rifles 4-4-0-0

Which Mastery is better to have?

Is Adv. Sniper Shot a better tool than Adv. Stopping Shot? Or is it the other way around?

Also, on a side note...is CL 80 a MUST? or just a good suggestion?

CL 80 IS a must, just something you gotta have. From experience if your under CL75 u most likely cant take a CL 80. Most of the CL 80 reached that peak before there template was done. Advanced stopping shot is awesome, it'll be used a lot more than advanced sniper shot.

By that saying could it work with carbines also?

i.e.

MBH / MC / Pistols 0-4-0-4

or MBH / MP / Carbines 4-4-0-0?

Stopping shot can be used with any weapon. MBH/MP/Carbs4400 is my current template and I seem to do pretty well. Although, I am contemplating MBH/MR/Pistols0404 for the cover ability.

Of Course I'm sitting here thinking I want MR for the range and I forgot that you can use almost any weapon now with any prof.... with MPand carbs 4-4-0-0 and MBH you get a general accuracy of 215...not bad... can you use skill attachments for skills you dont have i.e. rifle accuracy when you're not a rifleman????

I am MBH/MP/Carb0440,CP (fs)4002 and lemme tell ya... I have every single thing I could wish for minus healing. I can snare, root, dot. I have 2 crit hit big damage dealers on a slightly different timer so I can ring them off fast. I knockdown, blind, intimidate (great debuff imo), make them easier to hit, AE dizzy/stun (which they claim is going to work better pub 19). I can remove my stun, blindness and others.... it's a killer temp, all puns intended.

See I'm leaning a little towards MC (or MR)/ pistols 0-4-0-4...more because I want the bigger weapon as my primary...I don't know the exact calculations on how accuracy affects damage and speed affects firing time so that leaves me at a loss... if anyone knows this information please post it here so I can do some math myself

Rifle definitely has a great place in BH'ing but I dropped it eventually simply because sniping shot needs you to be laying down and when hunting jedi you might get 1 shot off then will be standing and kiting, etc... in exp groups I was NEVER laying down so a number of the rifle skills were useless to me. I found with pistols and carbs I can easily run the encounter vs jedi. If I want him rooted so I can drop some debuffs I can, if I want to dot/snare/kite him I can.... so far stim d and ruby with regen food and drink has been more than enough healing. Just stay outta range and it's easy.

I do very well with MBH/MRM/Novice Smug

I have a great root, KD, crit shot, head shot, sniper shot. Can deal out ridiculous amounts of damage while still maintining the ability to heal through a food/heal macro that pops the healing drink(can't rmember name right now) directly after a heal. While maintaing a long distance from the jedi.

Typically, I'm 45-60m away from the mark at all times, but if I do get fouled up, I can switch to my scatter pistol for close encounters. I can KD, root, and then swtich to rifle in mid attack for the more powerful attacks at greater range. I tend to use diving shot for the transition from standing to prone for my sniper shot. It takes out just a little bit more damage than a standard shot, but it's something.

Usually its: /root, /headshot, /diveshot, /KD, /snipershot, /critcal shot - If they aren't incapped at that point, it's snare and repeat. This deals out well over 4000k damage in about 15 seconds but their nack to heal is stopping me from putting down the stronger players.

My main problem is rifle speed. I have issues with dealing enough damage quickly enough. The jedi have that nasty ability to heal it seems almost every 3-5 seconds. Were I to find some good rifle speed tapes and get the ranged speed tree from the village, I think this would a particularly nasty template indeed.

Not to say it's bad now. I've best Jedi solo up to about the 180k mark with little problem. Just takes time and patience. I cannot however take out a full template (pre pub 19) with the above.

I'm VERY interested to see how the Jedi Profession reacts in combat now that Pub 19 has come and the changes in their ability timers has gone live. I'm concerned though about one thing... can't a Jedi just substitue a stim in place of a force heal and offset the 2 and heal just as quickly as before with a combination of the 2 and medical healing foods?
