Thread: New Bug or BS?

Had a little encounter with my mark in the Trial the other day. As I ran down to where the jedi stand all close and cozy, one jedi runs away and positions himself in the "safe spot" (LOS). Then he tells me that he knows I have his mission, and he is correct. I do have his mission. Now, I know about the /duel exploit and I did not get a "xxx challenges you to a duel" message. Now, either I met a BS-talking jedi that was just lucky when he guessed and said he knew I had his mission, or there is some new bug. Another jedi that was grinding down there did confirm it though. My mark said the whole thing was intended, but the other jedi said it was a bug. Of course none of them would tell me how they could see I had a certain mission.

Has anyone else heard anything about this? Or should I just regard it as BS?

It won't show any duel message if your mark duels you. So it was likly the /duel exploit

The only "duel exploit" I have ever known was instigated by the BHto make it impossible for the jedi to fight back.

I can assume that the jedi targetted you and typed "/duel"....if you're after him, he will get a message saying "you cannot duel this target" due to the BH TEF. So you wouldn't get the message that he tried to duel you, but he would know that you were after him.

I guess that might have been it.....However I asked him if he meant the duel-bug and he just said "Nope"....But I have no guarantee what so ever that he was telling the truth.

Anyway, was just curious about if anyone else had encountered this "new bug" (if there is one)

oh.... oh dear was my wording too harsh? I do that.. sometimes im a little.... harsh... Maybe I am just calling it an exploit instead of a bug because it is a "bug" that is "exploited"

I wasn't responding to your post, we posted a response to the OP at the same time

I'd say that it's the jedi making good use of the in game mechanics. Nothing that the jedi is using is bugged or broken, he's just using a feature of the game to his advantage. We all do things in game that are slightly bending the rules, infinite use of seekers for example. I use the /duel test on occasion, and also have it used against me (I speak from both sides of the divide ). I'd like to think that a good BH will consider ways around this, stalking his victim instead of just running right up to him and raising his suspicions

Since your post was directed at me I guess I should reply...

This is the silliest thing I´ve ever read here!

You seriously believe that the /duel bug is a game-mechanic that is working as intended? No matter wether it is a BH or jedi using it?

BTW, there´s no such thing as infinite seekers anymore. Not for me at least...

hah, funny how Jedi think it's intended, I guess lieing to yourself is popular amoung the Jedi.

Point out to me the sentence in which I say it's "intended" for jedi to be able to use it. The "you cannot duel at this time" feature of the game was introduced so that duelling wouldn't affect the BH TEF. If a jedi chooses to use a feature of the game to his advantage, it's his choice. Yes, it's giving him an advantage in order that he finds out whether someone has his mission or not, but a good BH will predict this and not sidle up to the jedi, say hello, sit down and have a smoke, take his food, then attack. Maybe if you planned for the mark to do this, as I do, then you might have more success against a target that uses it.

I'd like to know what part of trying to duel a BH is "exploiting" or "bugged". Sure, it's gonna give the jedi a minor advantage and wasn't planned for, but compared to a situation which some BH's were taking advantage or; ensuring that their jedi target couldn't even fight back, I know which situation is worse. But crying about such a minor thing in the game as the jedi working out that you're after him is just petty and small minded.
