Cool - my little CL 16 Master Artisan / Merchant 3404 / Scout 0040 / BE 0004 / Marksman 4004 / Novice Rifleman could take all of BH and be around CL 70.
Pretty stupid idea if you ask me, unless BH doesnt grant CL increasements anymore.

This is called FRS.

FRS is broken and it may never be fixed.(But I'm not sure why. The Dark Ones always pander to the Nerfi)

Yep. That's what the FRS was intended for, anyway. It was about a year ago when the most tension was between Imperials and Rebels, not Jedi and BHs. (Imagine that! in a Star Wars game! ) We still had issues in the BH area, though. Jedi hunting was kind of fun, but it had all kinds of problems like the /logout bug, to name one. There was also the issue with jedi getting 85% block with Master Sabers. We argued that since our "job" as given to us by SOE was to help slow down the influx of jedi, we should have the tools to do so. The Jedi argued that since they had done all the horrific grinding, they had pretty-much earned the right to go around and pwn everyone they tangled with. So... FRS was started. It was a great idea, in theory IMO. Dark jedi get points for killing light jedi and vice-versa. Enough Points could earn you one of the 12 spots on the council of your chosen side in your galaxy.

Lots of problems ensued:

First, someone did the math and argued that in this system, itwas mathmatically impossible to level up after a certain point. Second, even if it could be done, it was just too difficult for them, evidentally. Third, Most players that have jedi toons have been around a while and have made lots of friends on both sides of the GCW. These things combined led to what the jedi referred to as "fightclubs". On the surface, it seems innocent enough; Get the dark jedi and the light jedi and have a PVP tournament to see which side has a stronger force. In practice, however, these "fightclubs" were not much more than grinding FRS points, with the outcome already having been decided by the jedi voting among themselves to decide who was going to sit on the "council" and who wasn't. Basically, it was a popularity contest. I'm not alone in saying that it disgusted me. These people, who had spent the past year or so, ganking each other, blowing up each-other's bases, outwardly berating each other in large starports, etc. etc. were now meeting every night, smiling and greeting each other like old friends to get together and decide the future of their servers for pretty-much everyone else.

When I spoke out about this, I was asked how it affected "my" future or those of other people in the galaxy. It's simple, really. Eventually, I think I may just go after "jedi" as well. No time soon, mind you... not until I reach my goals as a bounty hunter, at least. Having started playing the game about 10 months after it came out, there was already a large core group to which I didn't belong. This group was pretty much the same group that was deciding who was to hold the spots on the council and who wouldn't. Yes, I started playing later than everyone else, but I still pay my subscription fees just like they do. I still shelled out $60 for the disks, + $25 more for JTL, + $20 (or whatever it was) for ROTW. In my mind, my money is just as good as theirs. And if there is a goal to be reached later in the game, who are they to tell me that I'm not allowed to do so? Also, bear in mind that I am leader of BHA on Ahazi. I don't like to brag, but for the purposes of illustrating a point, I'll just say that I've frustrated a pretty fair number of jedi by taking their xp away from them. I imagine that if I showed up with saber in-hand, wanting to get in on the action, that the laughter could be heard from Hawaii to Scotland!

This isn't a jealousy issue, however. As I said--I'm in no rush to get a saber, let-alone sit on the "council". What this is about is the way that this system completely wrecked the "Star Warsy" feel that I expected to get from this game. Could anyone possibly imagine Darth Maul sittin' down with Obi-wan in a diner to discuss who was going to be "voted" into their respective councils? Could you imagine Darth Maul letting himself be killed so that Obi-wan could earn the points needed if Obi-wan had been voted to move up the ladder? pffffffffffft! Could you imagine it the other way around? Well, the SWG equivilant of those situations was exactly what was taking place, someone had to do something about it, and it wasn't the bounty hunters. They'd hold their "fight" club on top of a private guild hall so that no one, especially bounty hunters, could get in and disrupt their corruption of the system.

I agree--Jedi in a Star Wars game makes sense. BUT a "god class" in an MMORPG doesn't make sense--especially when it's the "god class" vs. everyone else. If players must have the opportunity to be jedi in this game, then the light and dark jedi "should" be pitted against each other. The PVP base raids "should" be squads of stormtroopers vs. squads of rebel troops, with maybe one or two jedi on either side of the battle. At the same time, perhaps the jedi "should" be fighting each other somewhere, climbing over each other on the ladder to the council seats and then struggling for dominance over the galaxy. But that's not the way it worked out. Until they find a way to effectively turn the jedi against each other, the FRS doesn't really have much chance of working, I'm afraid. Until then, we're going to continue to be thought of as "extras" or "bit parts" in a game where the jedi are the stars, even though they really shouldn't be here at all.
