Thread: Suggestions for overhauling jedi/bh pvp

I love the jedi being a forced pvp class, and the threat of bounty is an interesting deterrant. The conflict and tension that comes from pvp is interesting.

In theory this is a very interesting game dynamic, but in practice it has some real issues.

First, the BH gets first-strike and can stalk/harass - and in fact bh 3xxx could be used to grief/harass any jedi player regardless due to game mechanics.

The visibility system doesn't really dovetail with the CU. It's fine to require jedi to keep a low profile, if it were possible for jedi players to advance while doing so. The way group exp is granted now makes it such a penalty to solo that jedi are almost forced to become visible. There should be some kind of mitigation to this, such as no visibility penalty if grouped with same-faction or same faction combatants.

The exp loss for jedi is too severe. I agree that a penalty is needed, however it's needed bilaterally. Failing a bounty needs to be something people want to avoid. I don't advocate exp loss in any case, but quid pro quo.

I would suggest that the bounty scale up as the jedi exposes themselves further, AND that there be a cap on certain kinds of activity. For example, ifa jedi merely shows themselves with a saber, uses minor force action - that caps the bounty and the number of people who can take the mission. The more flagrant/offensive the use of force, the higher the mission payout and the more bh that can take it. Getting a full bounty because you group with another jedi is stupid, and breaks the fiction. Getting a full bounty with 5 bounty hunters after you because you killed rebel players, that - makes sense.

Also, bounty hunters should never be offered bounties on their same factions. That's stupid, and interferes with the GCW.

Lasty, the bh should definitely be TEF from the jedi the very moment the BH takes the mission to kill the jedi. Furthermore, certain jedi trees should offer precognition about the jedi having a bounty.

Lastly, jedi should be able to pay informants to tell them who has been asking about them. The knife cuts both ways.

The question that remains is - what penalties should jedi and bh suffer for being killed/failing the mission? Without penalties, BH just bindrush jedi which is bs. The concept of hunted/hunter pvp is awesome, but the grief that exists now is just making BH the wigger class, and is going to end up getting it hosed.

Thoughts? Ideas?
