Thread: Jedi Hybrid Nerf?

I read on the forums awhile ago that there was going to be a jedi hybrid nerf. I don't remember exactly what the details of it were, but I thought it entailed something that disabled your character from using Jedi abilities unless you had your lightsaber equipped.

Anyways, the reason I ask is I was considering making my toon a MBH/Jedi hybrid. Here are some of template ideas:

Choice #1
MBH/MPowers
Pros
- Improved Force Lightning (nice alternate attack; especially effective if the Jedi lacks Force Defense or Force Shield)
- Force Breach (eliminates your opponents Force Buffs...how sweet is that? Down with Master Enhancers)
- Force Cloak (cloak, find your Jedi friend, and wait for the opportune moment to strike)
- Improved Force Intimidate (reduces the Jedi's overall damage output)
- Improved Force Weaken (lowers the Jedi's overall defenses for a short duration)
- Force Strike (make this your default attack; low force cast, considerable damage ---> good rotation between Advanced Critical Shot)
- Finally, if you're low on action, force attacks drain more of your force bar than action bar, allowing you to regenerate action a bit before you start spamming BH specials again)

Cons
Redundant and Useless abilities
- Improved Mind Blast (stuns+dizzies target; same as Confusion Shot)
- Force Throw (other than looking cool, it simply stuns your target)
- Advanced Force Knockdown (does 0 damage; Improved Underhand Shot is a better choice)
- Force Choke (underpowered DoT)

*If this "nerf" I read about on the forums comes through (which just may be a rumor), in order to use any of these powers, I'd need a saber equipped)

Choice #2
MBH/Defender 4040/Enhancer 4000/Powers 4000
Pros
- +80 Force Defense
- +245 Melee Defense
- Imroved Force Run (catch up with those runners)
- Improved Force Lightning (nice alternate attack; especially effective if the Jedi lacks Force Defense or Force Shield)

Cons
- Fun template, but none of the abilities are necessarily needed (although improved force run is nice)

Choice #3
Template Ideas:
MBH/MDefender
Pros
- +65 Jedi State Defense (perhaps this could help defend against saber armor break?)
- +330 Melee Defense
- +100 Force Defense (defense from other mezzing/powers jedi)
- +50 Innate Jedi Armor*** (fight Jedi nekkid! lol)

Cons
Part of the nerf I was talking about had to do with all innate Jedi abilities being disabled if a lightsaber is not equipped. Can someone help prove if this is a rumor or not? Or is this one of the nerfs coming along with ToOW?

Would this template be completely necessary? Doesn't the high resist armor protection proivde enough as it is?

--------------------------------------
Overall Pros
- Unlimited use of tactic combinations possible (i.e.) Follow them around in a Jedi Robe with the title Jedi Padawan...that'll throw em for a loop once they blasters are a'blazin')
- Jedi will have to react and devise new strategies once confronted with their new opponent (imagine being jumped w/ Force Cloack, being knocked down with a Proton Carbine, then being debuffed with Force Breach...that'd scare the crap out of me)
- Ultimately, a different approach to hunting Jedi
- Higher Modified DPS*** (never tested to my knowledge; may not work)

Overall Cons
- By using Jedi skills, you're substituting vital SPs that could rather be invested in Rifelman/Carbineer/Pistoleer
- Fewer Weapon Modifiers (like con #1)
- Lacking Snares/Roots
- Stimpacks only option for healing
- Confined to using Assault Armor only (assault energy resists cap around 6100)
- With gained visibility, you could potentially be attacked by a BH while you're attacking your Jedi mark

While the cons in many ways outweigh the pros, this could be a very fun template to toy with.

Right now, all I have to do is complete the Padawan Trials and I'm a Jedi. Right now, I'm really loving Bounty Hunter, and I'd rather stick with it instead of becoming a Jedi. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Ah, forgot that one. That's true...I'll go ahead and add that to the list (if this whole concept still works even). Even though you'd be up for a bounty yourself, would that not be fun having an MBH vs. MBH fight? Just an excuse for PvP if you ask me (which I really get into anyways, so this doesn't present a problem for me).

At some point, not sure when they will do it, you cannot use force powers unless you are holding a saber. This will negate any hybrid BH/Jedi template. Just wondering when this will go into effect.

Can't use Jediskills while wearing armor.

The onlyviable hybrid temp I can think of is

MBH, MCombat Prowess, Enhanced Reflexes 4/4/0/0, Defender 4/4/0/0, Powers 0/4/0/0, Medic 0/0/4/0

How effective this template is would probably depend on who's playing it. Pre-CU MBH, MPistols was said to be abad Jedi hunting temp but I had no problems killing templated Jedi as long as I didin't rush myself. Timing of the Alpha strikewas key, so are wellplannedtraps. With the template above the only force skill worth useing is cloak to sneak in, de-cloak, armor up and attack when they are un-prepared and/or not expecting it.

yes, you can use AI with a trando rifle equipped. as long as no armor is on you still have your inate armor. with this template you are running light for damage. it doesn't matter if you can take the hits when they can regen your attacks with force infusion
