Thread: Quick template question

Hi everyone. I am making my way up ranger (4-0-4-0) and was wondering which ranged profession would suit me best. I would like to master that profession and maybe go with some creature handler on top of that. I was thinking pistoleer or rifleman, but carbineer is an option as well. Thanks in advance.

Wow talk about IMO question. There are PRO's and CONS of all. I will speak of what I am! RIFLEMAN. As a rifleman it just seemed a natural choice. Ranged with CAMO/MASK and taking cover I can kill ALMOST anything before it knows Im there!

Pistoleer is good, the specials that work, work well (unfortunately only a few of them actually work) there is a damage type pistol for almost every vulnerability (acid, heat, energy, kinetic etc)

Rifleman/ Ranger/ CH seems to be the best combo.

your pet can tank while you remain safe in the distance plinking away.

I am 0/4/4/4 BH,(going MBH), Master Carbineer, Novice Brawler atm. Should I keep novice brawler or go up to 0/0/3/0 or 0/0/0/3 Pistoleer. I'll be mainly hunting jedi (160k less<

Master BH, Carb 3,4,0,0 Pistol 0,0,4,4, Nov Brawler Works for me, I managed a couple of Knights like this but it's not easy, and I usually lose to MLS (I have no good DoT carbs ) but against non MLS Jedi it works a treat.
I used to have nov medic instead of brawler, but the small heals were a waste, nowadays I just drink Mandalorian wine for even faster regen and that works fine

I wouldn't take xxx4 healer. States just don't do much in the CU (I've been on TC PvPing every day, states are pretty much ignorable). And for enhancer, I'd take 2004, so you have FR1 and can move quickly around in a fight. You've got channel (that's in the xxx4 line of enhancer--actually is in the second box of the fourth column) already, so you're good there. The two extra points you'd save by dropping meditation, which isn't all that, aren't going to do any better elsewhere, so may as well leave them there. The primary thing you're lacking is defense.


Intimidate only lowers offensive output by about 20% in the CU era and costs a lot of force, so depending on that for defense is not a good thing. Let's see--after the changes I outlined (this is without using a builder), you should have enough with the points you had left over originally to pick up another line. I recommend that if you're only going to get one, that you get the xx4x line of defender. That would give you improved Force Aura, which works like COB for TKMs in the CU. It's great--people will miss you like mad and you'll feel like a defense stacker of old


Best of luck--don't be in a hurry to log in and respec. Wait and let the bugs get worked out a bit first!
