Thread: Interesting Experience last night
Launch my probe droid, target is on Dantooine. Fly into the Agro outpost and see the WP...well he was just here. Launch a seeker, hes about 1k north of AO. I cruise on up within about a 120m of him and notice he is in a group. I act like I'm looking for a vendor, all non-challant like and one of his group mates sends me a tell saying "we have one spot open, wanna join?"
Now, I've heard of BHs doing this before, its an easy way to keep an eye on a mark. Well this particular group was a spin group and was moving very fast.
I hit tab to cycle to my next target and pop him once, gaining a TEF. Oops...ok, I'll just keep attacking the Pikets and ignore it till the lair is done. Someone in the group mentions that they can't heal me or my mark. Well...I've been discovered. So I drop and sniper shot the guy and try and do a KD. He runs. And runs. So I pop some Parwan and head after him. He stops about a hundred meters out and sends me a tell: "Reported for exploiting"
Wait...exploiting?
I ask him "How am I exploiting? I'm just doing my job."
He says "I can't attack you when you are in my group, you should know that."
Well...I didn't know that. Long story short, I dropped the mission, he and I are cool, but my question is this: WHY CAN'T HE ATTACK ME WHEN I AM GROUPED WITH HIM? I can sure hit him....
Does anyone else find this odd?

I am a fairly new BH, been doing mostly NPC missions (which require a decent amount of work now...OK by me). I picked up a Jedi mission, probably my third or fourth that I've done, only 2 being successful.

I've heard of this before. Though I've never personally seen it. Everytime I was in a Jedi's group and attacked them, they were able to attack me just fine whether grouped with me or not. I wouldn't consider it an exploit though since a.) he was able to get away, and b.) he could have just hit /disband to attack you, if his claim was true.
You did make a few mistakes though: "I cruise on up within about a 120m of him" To be unnoticed, you need to stay about 250m out of range and /cover, crawl the rest of the distance. Or if you can't /cover drive around to the opposite side of the direction of the shuttle/starport. This is the most obvious approach, and ANY single con'd player is flagged a BH to the majority of Jedi, they will be on guard.
Getting into the group was a good bet though, I'd have waited a few lairs before I attacked though. Just to build up even more "trust". Then when the Jedi says in group chat "out of force, need to rest" that's when I would launch the offensive. They will be at their weakest then....
Otherwise, keep it up! Sounds like you are good at being sneaky!
Some tips: Don't EVER wear your armor or weapons or your BH tag while on the "hunt". Any player who is wearing recon armor and holding a weapon is considered a BH whether you are one or not.
If you approach a group of people solo, it's a safe bet that at least one of them is examining your profile. If they see Master Bounty Hunter, they announce it in group chat. However if they see Master Bounty and a bunch of OTHER master badges, it's not as obvious.

Glad to hear I'm doing something right. Thanks for the advice! I usually use my Comp armor as I have it sliced, but I have 5 professions in my Bio, so it's not horribly obvious...is it?
Comp Armor isn't as bad as recon armor in terms of spotting a BH. But comp armor won't have the best energy resists either. If you are going to use recon, I would get some Ubese or Tantel. Shy away from the high stat factional armor. That's the first tip off. You can still get 8K + Ubese or Tantel, though in my opinion, they aren't as "pretty" as the Imperial Scout Trooper armor.
5 professions aren't bad, no.... but I used to have about five... and they read like this:
Has mastered the Bounty Hunter Profession
Has mastered the Marksman
Has mastered the Rifleman
Has mastered the Brawler
Has mastered the Swordsman
Has mastered the Fencer
Has mastered the Medic
Has mastered the Doctor
Ok, so at some point you know I was a melee stacker. And at some point you know I was a Doctor, probably a buff doc, before the CU (which I was)
It's apparent that I am now most likely a Bounty Hunter. I had to go back and master some other professions to "throw off" the trail a bit. So I did.... I went and got a bunch of stuff that seemed like it would be fun, tried it out, and setteled on my current template of:

Same template here...any tips on use or misuse as the case may be?
