Thread: Is it me or...?
- The first time I remember was RotW, when we received some new components.
- The second time was when DP fixed experimentation on caps and engines.
I'm not ungrateful for this attention. However, we have had been lobbying for a number of other changes for a long time. What angers me more is that some of these changes regard honest problems, not enhancements. For example, Elite components are NOT--I don't care what the reason for this problem, but we have made an honest effort to communicate this problem to the devs and all I see us receiving in return is lip-service. I hear the devs in chat talk about how they are going to fix this, and how they are going to fix that.
In addition, let's face it, the last two publishes do NOT deserve the title of "Publish". They are lame and not worthy of being called a "Publish". I've seen hotfixes that have offered more than these two Publishes. In addition, I just don't see bugs introduced by Publish 17, 18, 19, and 20 being fixed. I remember a day when Publishes were followed by a string of hotfixes promptly addressing problems and issues introduced by the Publish. What are the devs doing that is so pressing? Are they working on another big expansion so SOE can line its coffers with more of our hard earned money? That's fine, but my customer satisfaction rating is falling fast, and it isn't going to stop until someone starts fixing bugs.
That was one of our oldest bug/issues
I know it is hard to deal with not having an issue close to you resolved. Believe me, I know.

They are fixing bugs. They are working right now to fix them. All I can really say is this, there is not a single swg dev I've ever met that doesn't work over 40 hours a week either fixing bugs or creating content. All of the ones I've met have passion to see this game get better and better.

IIScander, I don't mean to denigrate the devs. I am merely expressing my satisfaction level at this point in time. We still can't trade in XP at the village. We still can't craft boosters comparable to looted boosters. I have been posting bugs that have gone unanswered for a half year. I constantly submit customer service tickets to only be met with some canned answer that helps me not. I go into live chat to only hear the same canned fix over and over--do a full scan and try again. I'm at the point where I can't even craft ship components without a hassle. If all the devs are working so many hours to fix bugs, sounds like a serious program management problem to me.

Believe me... I can understand your frustrations adn the post you quoted was not really directed at you. Communication is one of the most challenging issues we face. I don't just mean between the devs, but like you point out, with the csr's and with each other as players. I know that all devs are not working to resolve bugs. Some are hard at work at creating content for the next releases, and still others probably looking at things for the life of the game. We all want our bugs fixed and our new content introduced asap and I'm pretty darn sure they want the same.
I think the real issue here is that the corporate world has not quite awoken to the nature of worlds such as swg. I would be pleasantly suprised to find out that big forture 500 company CEO's areavid players ofMMORPGs. Something like selling people cars and radios makes sense. They are tangible items. As we see in the magazines and newspapers people are shocked that so many people play MORPGs. Many of theseplayers value their experience in game as much as anything else in their life. I think that value is a hard thing to understand unless you've been in these worlds.
I imagine that in many instances of MMORPGs, they have just enough staff to fly by the seat of their pants and keep it running. Once America and the world see just what these games can become, we will see moneyand therefore moredevs, falling intovirtual worlds so fast our heads will spin.
Until then though, we have to live with what we got. I'm not saying don't get upset. I want you all to tell me when you are unhappy about something. Heck I even want you to tell me when you are happy about something. Just keep in mind what I try to remember, that these developers, programmers, content creators, and other artistswant swg to succeed. They want it to be the best game possible. I've seen it in their eyes and I've heard it in their words.
Pretty much all of you seem to remember that when you post, I just wanted to throw that out there for the others. I've been reading way to much hate out in the forums. All you shippies are pretty mature bunch and I sure appreciate it. TEAM TEAM TEAM,... ok off soapbox =P
