Bounty Hunter Archive
Thread: nice
thats right S.C.U.M.M.
A new way to travel. You out hunting a mark and want to get there as fast as possible, dont use the cumbersome public shuttle system, use SCUMM.
We are fast but expensive, not to worry, any BH worth his salt will be taking missions from employers who have an account with us.
How to use us:
See any Spynet operative after you have sent your probes and found the marks planet. He will give you a spylink SCUMM com and forward the bill to your emploers account. You use this Spylink SCUMM com just outside city limits like you would an arakyd droid. A shuttle will come down to your location, and bring you direct to the planet your mark is on. The more skilled in investigation you arethe closer we can drop you to your mark(invest 1 < 7000m invest 4 < 4000m).
Why spend 90% of your time waiting for the shuttle? Use SCUMM, and get there fast, and quietly. Also SHHHHHH dont tell the general public about us as we are trying to be very sekret! Cant have all those criminals knowing about us.

An idea or what =)

I like it a lot. I see two problems though: It will be hard to implement this in a way that can't be exploited (get mission to lok/endor/etc, travel in style, abort mission), and also it would likely become obsolete with the space expansion. I'm dying to have my own ship...
well lets look at your idea of exploit.
the so called "exploit" way
1)get mission
2)go to informant
3)run outside city limits
4)use arakyd
5)run back to city
6)wait 4 minutes
7)get tatooine
8)repeat steps 1-6
9)get talus
10)repeat steps 1-6
11)get endor!
12)talk to spynet
13)run outside city limits
14)call down SCUMM
15)get dropped off in the middle of fookin nowhere in endor in hostile territory
OR
Dont be an exploiter and just buy the godamn ticket, if you have trouble getting up the 2-4k needed you should not be going to endor in the first place.

Im gonna make this a little clearer since i was sorta expecting a bit more feedback on it.
New BH travel system.
Steps to take in order to use.
1) get mission
2) get bio sig
3) use Arakyd
4) talk to informant to get your shuttle communicator device
5) go out of city limits just like arakyd, use shuttle com
6) 20 sec later shuttle picks you up drops you off on planet your mark is on the higher your investigation, the closer you get (but still pretty far)
7) track mark, kill him
8) activate shuttle com, if you suceeded in your mission shuttle shows up 20 sec later and drops you where it first picked you up
If you abort, or fail, 5k or so is deducted from you, since your employer is not going to pay for your failures.
Bh missions would then pay what they should, profit over time would be about right, People would actually continue to do BH missions after they hit master as this is alot more fun than a destroy mission.
feedback plz!

I like the idea of having your expenses covered when you succeed in a mission, but having to pay the expenses yourself if you fail or abort. This would give a reward to BHs who are more successful at doing their jobs.
The bugs would all have to be fixed for this towork though.
this will work regardless of the bugs, if anything the bugs will have less of an impact.
you mean you would rather just lose your money you invested in shuttles if you cannot complete the mission?
your employer aint gonna foot the bill if you fail no matterwhose fault it is. Its flavor =)

p.s. Rating nazis can go f themselves, yup yup, go right on and f themselves.
wow, this is one of the best ideas i have seen on this forum in a long time.
of course it makes way too much sense for it to ever happen.
i cant believe people dont like a solution to sitting at the starport for hours on end, a way to bring payouts in line to where they should be, and cut down on expenses to make hunting bounties worth your time beyond master.
real feedbacks needed

Not really (I was talking about the expenses being covered if you fail/abort, not the other stuff). Losing money because you failed to do your job is one thing, but paying credits because your mark is white is just plain wrong.
