Thread: Bomb / Healing Droids
I have a med/combat droid. it has a combat module, 110 healing module, self repair module and armour. He's pretty tough and can tank with the armour, repair and combat module while providing the heal boost. i find him most useful for negating the regen you get on high lvl mobs as he can tick aaway with about 250 damage every couple of seconds
he does get left behind if i burst run but otherwise seems to keep up pretty well, and he doesn't run away either. he's also useful for high end pve targets as he can distract them while i pile on the dots and states.

Excellent info, I know what was confusing me now, I got a mouse bomb droid and i remembered seeing Detonate on radial, but the next time I was going to experiment and use it on something I could not find detonate on the radial menu.
I understand now thanks for the info

Does anyone know how to load the stim droids with stimpacks? I have a R3 that can hold 60 stims but I can't figure out how to load the sucker.
If I remember right, you can't load it. It has to be loaded by someone with the fourth box of one of the Medic branches, but I don't remember which branch. I want to say it's pharmacology, but... that doesn't exist anymore, so I won't.
Also, unless stim droids have changed since the CU, they only take stim A's.

The tricky part is being close enough to the droid to be able to target the droid and detonate it while being close enough to your mark for the bomb to hit him/her. I find that this macro suits my purposes very well:(with your mark targeted)/tellpet chase;/pause 3;/target (bot)/pause 1;/detonate:(Then, of course, you'll need to target your mark again to finish the job)I've found that it's best to name the droid before using it. I've tried "/target an MSE" and "target an R3" but if there is anything nearby such as "an Imperial Colonel" etc. I find that I always wind up targeting the object instead of the droid. There are usually only seconds to react and try to rectify the situation, and those seconds are usually not enough. The time taken before hand to prepare yourself by simply naming the droid is well worth it.Problems: Right now it seems as though once a bomb droid is "readied" and then stored again, the detonation unit is no-longer functional. When you run your macro or try to detonate it manually, you'll get a system message "This droid contains no detonation module". I pay from 80-100k per droid for 59 det power because they pack a wolop. Finding out about this bug the hard way was kind of a kick in the teeth. I not only lost the fight and had my PVP rating lowered, I lost 100k on the droid as wellI've had it pointed out to me several times that if you simply keep the deed in your inventory, you may ready the droid pretty-much anywhere, including inside buildings, etc. You also do not have to wait 15 seconds if you're out in the wild, which makes it handy for surprise attacks. When sneaking up on a mark, every second counts. Of course, this means giving up naming your droid, so both methods have their pros and cons. It's probably best to figure out exactly how to finish the /target command and use the deed. I just haven't found the magic words yet.The most effective method of using a bomb droid right now is to try to figure out where your jedi will be in the next few minutes and wait for him/her there. While waiting, pull the droid out, name it, and wait for the unwitting target to walk into your trap. I also keep my macro hot-keyed. So it's just a matter of Knocking him down, smacking the key, tabbing to the mark again and picking up the fight with him already at half-health.A final note: If you plan to use your bomb droids on jedi, make sure you KD him/her before you droid is within range of their saber. Bomb droids don't usually come with armor of any kind so one hit from an alert jedi can mean the difference between "BOOM! /critical, /critical, /deathblow, count your money" and "OOOPS! Like, get the heck outta here, Scoob!"Message Edited by Rheso on 08-15-200506:23 AM
Nice. However with your macro you can retarget your mark. Since you should have the name, just throw a "/target insert murderous jedi name here " at the end of the macro well before you attack. That will eliminate the need to manually reaquire. FYI, I've never actually done this before, I just noticed it as a quick solution to the reaquire.
