... surely the way /duel currently works between bounty-hunters and jedi needs some serious attention?

"The element of surprise" can not only encompass us arriving fast, which although has potential to be surprising is hardly tactically expedient, but has to include as actually chosing the moment to strike. Knowing that the precious element of surprise is dead within a few seconds of your mark catching sight of you (Where as if they had no way of knowing we could actually "blend in" and do some sneaking), there's literally no point in even attempting stealth. How am I supposed to shadow a mark that can not only suspect I am there for him (which I'm fine with, as minimizing the reasons he'd have for suspecting me is part of the challenge in hunting. Yeah, I'm a wannabe-rogue) but can easily confirm his suspiciouns?

All that has to be done is to display a system message as normal when challening and ending a challenge directed at a party that you can't duel. And (if it hasn't already) make trade requests appear the same way. It does not sound like a complicated fix to me.

I would add that this /duel trick can easily be used in conjunction withexploits to make it extremely easy for the mark to avoid confrontation. Example: a suspicious mark grinding in the Rryatt Trail uses /duel on you ; if he sees he is your mark, he walks 5 meter into the broken line of sight corner and becomes unattackable. If he sees he is not your mark, he continues his grinding.

Quite right, before you could always wait for the jedi group to grow impatient and start grinding again. Then as the mark got some serious aggro, root and shoot.

Yah, the /duel thing really needs to be fixed.

An easy fix would be for it to give the same message to the user as it always did. Just not have the window pop up.

That way the Jedi doesn't know any better and the BH doesn't have that stupid window flashing in their face.

Likewise with trade; It has always reacted to TEF's in a way that made it possible to completely eleminate any surprise.

C'mon, surely there must be more people that finds this incredibly annoying? More than half of the jedi I've seen recently(which is 15+ in the past two days)has used either trade or /duel to figure out whether I carry their mission or not.

If you're grinding with a group in a cluttered area, it's pretty easy to use stealth, you can find groups passing by or near, lots of traffic, all you need to do is blend in with the surrounding behaviour. Once you see a person or a few people shooting a lair, you disregard them as grinders, all your need to do is turn your gun around.

Being gotten shopping is always a nasty one, or at a mission terminal, lots of grinding right now on Valcyn, blending in shouldn't be too hard with a lil'creativity.
