Thread: Scatter Pistol vs. FWG5

i have a scatter pistol that does 155 damage at 1.8 speed sliced down


then i have a fwg5 that does 180 damage at 2.0 speed unsliced


what one do you guys prefer? i think i kill things faster with my FWG5. just looking for a little input

First a little disclaimer; This is third hand information. That said, I don't have any reason to mistrust the source, and there is even some anecdotal evidence that supports what I'm about to say:

IIRC the FWG5 does heat damage.

This is very, very bad against Kimos and other heat resistant creatures.

The scatter is going to have a higher min damage then the FWG5 along with the scatter having an AR rating of 1... I think the FWG5 is only 0.



With the min dmg... speed... and AR being better on the scatter I'd take that...

Just got back online after a one and a half year abscence (the damn TV commercials made me homesick). Lots of stuff changed - and picked up the BH profession for the first time to add to it (don't worry, I was too low before to respec without giving up my master rifleman, so I'm grinding it). Anyways:


From what I've seen the Scatter Pistol seems to be the weapon of choice for most BH. But when I look at stats of it for sale against the FWG5 it seems it does less than half the damage and has worse stats in every way. What am I missing here? I probably just don't know how to read the new stats, but are the DPS figures that far off?


Any help greatly appreciated.

Be careful, after the Combat Upgrade/RotW there are 2 versions of the Scatter


1) Being the Plain scatter which is worthless and probably the one you are looking at


2) This one being the "High Capacity Scatter Pistol" which alot of BH's use because high dmg and low SAC.


Here ae the stats on mine (I think it had +120 tissues)


Damage: 670-910


Wound: 31%


Base DPS: 320 (NOTE: DPS doesnt mean anything as many have stated before, the game uses min/max dmg to calculate your attack's dmg)


SAC: 85 (Possibly the most important as alot of people are buing 1k+ dmg weaps but dont realize that the SAC of 120 will drain em in 5 shots)

Ah that makes much more sense! The high-capicity is the master only weapon then?

If you can, try to pick up a high end featherweight fwg5...it is superior to a scatter in a few ways.


1. the max and min damage cap is higher

2. you get an extra 15 to pistol accuracy

3. you have to be mbh to use the scatter, you can use the featherweight as cl 54, so you're not required to be a mbh.

it all depends on whether you have better krayt or gorax tissues/shards.... I prefer the featherweight because of the +15 accuracy, but I would have no problem at all using a scatter with the same damage/speed/sac
