Thread: Lightsaber damage type

Its extremely simply what they need to do in SWG regarding Lightsaber damage.


It just requires some work.


--Make Lightsabers AP3 and its own damage type seperate from any other damage type ingame as of now.(call it whatever you want......."plasma damage"or whatever)


--Then to balance it, introduceextremely, rare, lootablearmorsegments having the properties of the resourceknown as "Cortosis" which is the only known substance that can withstand a lightsabers damage(as already established by the Known Star Wars Lore and Info)


Therefore Lightsabers get the power that they realistically should have and non-jedi have a route to go as far as seeking some sort of protection.


However, it should not only be rare to find "Cortosis armor segments" but also very difficult to get a complete armor set having its special protection "Cortosis" as high as others such as Electricity or Kinetic.


Using say ONE looted "Cortosis Armor Segment" on a Composite Chest piece would add around 13% protection to that piece against lightsaberdamage. This is the same way that one stun segment affects it currently and makes sense.


Anything other then the introduction of Cortosis as the only substance that can withstand lightsabers is NOT ACCEPTABLE as far as accuracy to Star Wars common knowledge.

That whole concept would mean following a storyline etc.... this is a MMORPG, all those ideas are thrown out the window.

Lightsabers need to be energy because if you'd read up on starwars, it is nothing but a reciprocating blaster ENERGY bolt...AP3 and really high damage...

Thats fine, as I said make it anything you want............. for example "Lightsaber Energy" damage. Just make it seperate from other currently existing ingame damage types(different then regular energy damage or others)


Then these "Cortosis Armor Segments" will have the properties to withstand it.

Everyone has been quarreling about what damage type sabers should have, i say whynot give them two types of damage. Keep the kinetic and add say energy or even as someone suggested, stun damage.

Query, What type of damage does a lightsaber deal? Energy or Kinetic? Is it kinetic for a padawan, and energy for everyone else?

Energy, with elemental dmg based on the color of the saber, ie red=heat, green=acid .... Im about 90% on the elemental dmg, 100% on the energy as the 'main' dmg type
