Thread: BH missions

I'm gonna repeat what many others have said, but I'll say it again...

The BH missions are too tough, at least the -easy- ones are. Hell, I even brought a friend with me to help me take out one earlier, and we -both- were killed. I'm well equipped, high damage weapon, high speed, some pistoleer, and I get tooled. Big time, it's not even close... and these are "difficult 13" missions? Heh. They really don't know how to scale these things. Maybe things would be more fair if the mobs didn't have 60% energy defense since every BH is going to fight with an energy weapon... i mean get real. How about we just kill ourselves repeatedly for bounty hunter exp and cut out the middle man.

The rewards also do not compare to regular missions for the amount of time spent, challenge, distance walked, transit fees, etc. You become a BH for the potential rewards, not to just be a killer (if we wanted that, we'd be pistoleers/carbineers/etc)... we're in it for the reward. It's a profession specific activity, and we sacrifice a lot of skill points to be BH's... we should get the rewards for our dedication to it.

The problem isn't the mission difficulty. The problem is your tactics. I had no problem getting through the easy missions without any assistance of any kind. I know 2 other bounty hunters that have done the same.

Look over all your special abilities, and learn to use them. Also look over ones you could easily attain in the BH tree... sometimes you really just need to lvl in order to be able to drop your mark..

I hunt my marks without armor on... faster HAM regeneration that way.

How was your friend able to help you? I've had no difficulty killing the targets on my own, but a friend wanted to attck too, but was unable to. He actually wasn't even able to heal me during the fight, he got the message "It would be unwise to help such a character" or something along those lines. That lasted for about 10 minutes after the mission, then everything was normal.

Was that a bug or the way it is supposed to work?

It was a bug, I had the same thing occure to me on a regular mission with a friend. It lasted about 10 minutes and then the heals resumed.

I agreed when I did my first BH mission and died before even doing a fraction of damage to my mark. However, now that I have refined my tactics, I have yet to lose a mission. They are sometimes close, but I do not beleive the novice level missions are too hard. Re-examine your attack tactics, look at what skills are available to you, it will come to you and you will be killing targets faster and without problems.

I certainly agree on the rewards/hour bit.

I think the BH mission difficulty could scale a little better. As it is you go from doing boring trivial missions from the mission terminal to VERY hard single opponents. Might be better if they had some missions that were less difficult. (Ie a red con that is just barely a red con), and then ramp it up from there.

Sorry, but I cannot support you on this one. The marks are VERY dangerous. That is true. Still, I am going back throught Investigations for the second time (since I sold-back Investigations 1 since it is useless). I have NEVER failed to take down a mark once I find him or her.

You have to use the proper special moves and manage your HAM as you do so. Also, it is CRITICAL that you have a superior quality weapon. The lowest level BH missions are very do'able but that is not to say it is easy. In fact it is very difficult to learn how to kill them but once you learn the tactics and techniques for taking down a deep red conn mark you will have a relatively easy go of it.

Good luck.

The probot is your friend. Without mine I would never be able to do missions.

You really shouldn't be having trouble with the targets, even solo, if you use your specials correctly. One thing to consider is that while a good gun will do alot of damage, it also takes alot of your pool. If you have a target with few hp that you want to kill quickly, a good gun is a wise choice (PVP for example). On the other hand, if you have a target with alot of hp, like our targets, you'll want to use something that does less damage, but uses far less HAM (CDEF).

If you still have trouble, it's fairly simple to get novice CH and go to Tatooine to tame a Giant Sand Beetle. Full grown they have over 9k hp and hit in the 270 range. I use mine mainly to make the fights shorter, not out of any real need.

The fact you list healdamage as needed shows you do not understand the use of specials in this combat system. I have NEVER, not once, even been shot at by a mark. I have killed over 30 of them.

So, stop using sarcasm as shield to hide your obvious discomfort with you lack of understanding of the SWG combat system. Log back in and practice. If you do it correctly you can easily defest your mark. It is a very ellegant and tatical system.
