This is where I'm thinking of going with bounty hunter:
Master Bounty Hunter, Ranger 3040
What do you think?

the tracking 4 will be good, but if you want to pvp you really should dump your skillpoints into carbineer or pistoleer after mbh.

i'm not too big on pvp, i'm more into making money. If I have to sacrifice doing jedi missions, I can live with that.

Yep, that's the template I'm using--have to make a living somehow, and harvesting creature resources pays a ton better than non-Jedi BH missions.

If i decide to drop ranger, and stick with master BH, i'll have 33 skill points left. I'm partial to carbines, so what would be a halfway decent PvP template using those leftover 33 points in the carbineer skill tree?

I'm thinking MBH, carbineer 0304 or 0340.
Which one of these would be better? I like carbineer 0304 because of the high accuracy, especially while moving.

The conventional wisdom has typically been MBH/Carb 0-3-0-4. However, I use Carb 0-3-1-2 and that works pretty good. You pick up a little counterattack at the cost of some accuracy and a few worthless specials. You still get the only 2 specialsyou'll use: Cripplingshot and Chargeshot.

It all depends what you want to do. I never felt people tracking was necessary for BH. I never had any problems finding my marks. If they were there I would find them. You may want some creature tracking so if you're looking for a particular spawn you could find it easier. If you want to make money harvesting then Hunt Master and some tracking are a good way to go.
Also you may want to evaluate your harvesting bonuseswith Ranger Hunting IV vs. how much faster you could kill things with Carbineer or Pistoleer. But, the organic resource racket is a good one, right now. Some resources you can get 40-50cpu on.

I was thinking of this template:
-MBH
-MCarbineer
-Low lvl Medic
Will this be good for hunting Jedi? Or are there better templates?

maybe pick up novice brawler for intimidateinstead of medic...if you have to heal with novice medic your already dead vs. a jedi. Its good for NON-Lightsaber Master jedi.

Well, it's not a good template. It works for low level jedi as long as they are not grouped and cannot be assisted. I use the same exact template, swapping novice medic for novice brawler depending on what I'm going to engage. Believe it or not, novice medic is not really useful unless the jedi you are facing is aiming for the health/action pools.
Don't get me wrong, even though it's not a "good" template, it's still strong in my opinion, if used properly. If you combine it with novice brawler (they way I do it), you have on your hand all the possible states you can apply in 1 single weapon. Spray shot is by far the best special Master BH has, if not the only useful one. Master carbineer combined with Master BH gives you an insane amount of accuracy, 220 I believe. Speed is no longer a problem, so you can aim for the highest damage carbines. If the jedi you are facing is not master lightsabers you will have many odds of killing him, if done properly.
This is where the states come into play: spray shot gives you blind, dizzy and stun almost instantly (2-3 shots to get all states applied), intimidate usually sticks on the second, third try at most. This means that you have cut the opponent's damage through more than 50% (actually, I think it's 65% reduction)in 5 seconds, which should cover all your healing problems. Aim for a posture change or a knockdown (carbineer has plenty of specials, and they are all working, check the carbineer FAQ, it is the best one I've ever read, it has all the info you'll ever need and a lot more).
Once your mark is on the floor go for the highest damaging attack: either crippling shot or scattershot2. Even though (according to the carbineer FAQ) both have the same damage multiplier, each one has it's own use: scattershot2 will get rid of any damage reduction food in a matter of seconds, since each shot counts as 3 shots, so you'll need 1/3 of the time to eliminate the synthsteak effects. Crippling shot gets handy afterwards, since you'll be hitting a random pool each second, for a huge amount of damage. Keep in mind that you must try to have him on the floor all the time, this is where the devastating damage of the carbines will shine. Use anti knockdown food (thakitillo), you have zero defenses, keep that in mind. Also keep in mind that there's a 30 second timer delay between every knockdown you successfully get, so you have to swap between KD and posture change.
If everything goes well, you should be able to kill him without even getting a scratch (literally). Again, this will only work against low level padawans, or any jedi that is NOT master lightsabers. Depending on their template, they might have feign death (usually 90,000 credits bounty on them), semi-complete melee stacking template (looow payout, most seem to lack decent healing abilities, easiest type to hunt in my opinion) or even some ranged (master rifleman along with some really nice armor, rifles, and attachments).
There are only 3 things you have to fear (from my experience):
1- The jedi is grouped, and they are within range covering him
2- The jedi has some really nasty DoTs (fire stuff, poison stuff)
3- The jedi is master lighsabers, so your chance to hit him is drastically reduced, no matter what trick you use
On another thread a few days ago, someone asked "how good is a master BH against a jedi knight?". Well, you have zero chance in my opinion, unless the jedi is unbuffed and (LD), or unbuffed and (AFK), or has absolutely no idea at all of how to use all the powers he/she's got.
Last tip (this is getting reaaaally long), try to catch him/her always in the weakest moment, when he's low on health, or geing attacked by several creatures at the same time, or both. If you are lucky you'll even be able to DB him/her while he's incapped.
I really hope it helps...

thats my template and it does well against jedi who are around the 160-170K mark but like every ranged proffesion u will suffer from the saber block. if u have a good laser carb it will help as cripple shot can hit for a very high amount against a KD'd jedi.
