I respecced to that a bit ago, and I wouldn't recommend it. Problems:

1. You can only use assault armor without getting hindrance, which is good for grinding, not the best for jedi.

2. You don't get the better paralyze, so you barely have time for one shot (thyroid rupture/electrolyte drain) before it wears off, and even that is close.

3. You get a big penalty in speed/acc/ranged def/melee def for not having mastered either

Overall, it looks great on paper, but I felt that having the best of one, and less of the other, equaled out to a much stronger character. Which is better to master is obviously debatable, but personally, I prefer pistoleer. If for no other reason, I think it is just more fun to play.
