Thread: Strategies for dealing with cloakers?

I had two Jedi cloak on me today. One used it as intended, to get away. The other used it so he could follow me around without me being able to attack him.
I launched half a crate of seekers and was getting updates every 2-3 seconds. I stayed with him for a good 15 minutes, getting near constant updates. Occasionally the droids would lag and he'd get 40-50m away, but I was generally getting updates every 3 seconds or so and was within 10m of him.
Finally, I pulled a bomb droid on him (I had his name by this time) and *BOOM*. He didn't de-cloak, but he obviously took damage because he immediately ran into his house and logged.
I'm not one to call for nerfs, but it was a bit ridiculous. I knew he was there, he wasn't trying to get away, but even with me constantly less than 10m from him he was able to maintain invisibility. Any ability this powerful should have a counter, or a high enough cost that it can't be maintained indefinitely.

BEFORE you attack, have a friend on a swoop /follow him, and keep him snared

Also, if he wants to follow you, head to a major NPC city. The more players and NPCs around, the larger the force drain to maintain cloak. Not every template that has cloak has the ability to maintain it for long periods in crowd situations.

Forgot to add this...the skill is described as "this ability allows the jedi to cloud the minds of those nearby into not seeing the jedi. This skill will cause considerable drain on force if there are mutliple players or mobs in the area." (Taken from an SWG character builder site).
Not to be a pain, but I don't think, from that description and the fact that the Powers profession has nothing else but damage dealing skills (not going to discuss how effective they are here) that you can say escape is its "intended" use.
Personally, I think it is a damage dealer as it can give the jedi the ability for first strike in non-BH engagements and allow the jedi to turn the tables on a BH if the Bounty Hunter's first strike was less than effective.

There are some very effective tactics for combating Cloak, but I won't post them here, sorry. I'm a Jedi and a MBH and if I do it will come back to bite me, hehe. But I will tell you that I've gotten almost EVERY Jedi that's Cloaked on me. Here are the 3 basics:
-Stalk your prey.
-Pick your moment.
-Stay within 20m if you know the Jedi can Cloak.
Don't think you can kill a Jedi by walking up to them. After the CU it became too easy to hunt Jedi, so most new BH think they should be able to whoop a Jedi. Well, maybe you can, but don't expect to. Take your time and pick your moment.
Using the 3 pointers I gave and some good BH experience you should be able to figure out some additional tactics. Good Luck!
