Thread: Animosity of Jedi towards BH
Problem: Animosity of Jedi towards BH and vice versa. Both on the forums and in game.
Reason: The hunted is not supposed to like his/her hunter. Jedi are the only target available to a BH. This creates the animosity between these two professions.
Suggestion for a solution: Change the visibility rules. I to mean make visibility only get added when you break a “RULE”. By rule I mean a predetermined set of rules within the galaxy that are deemed illegal. For example: Killing a security member in a city. This might grant you 1% visibility. Another example would be: Using saber or force in front of another player. This might give you 30% visibility. Now here is the kicker…
These rules would apply to everyone. If a smuggler gets caught with contraband 3% visibility gets added to his character. A BH fails a mission 10% visibility. (Should not apply to canceling a mission.) All these of rules and consequences for breaking the them are just examples. I think the DEVS should be able to come up with their own set.
When a player (any profession) hits 100% visibility they are added to the terms. Currently a Jedi with a full template is worth 226k credits. If a player that is not a Jedi racks up enough visibility to get on the terms his bounty should be determined by CL and SP used. If that person is a CL 80 and has used all his SP that persons mission should be 226k. If the player is a brand new and has no skills but breaks enough rules to gain visibility that character would get a payout that meshed in with an NPC amount.
Since player names are coming off the terms I suggest we make the best of it.
This does several things:
- A BH will never know if he/she is going against a Jedi or some other template. This gives a little mystery and creates the need when going on a hunt to be prepared for any situation.
- It eliminates the board trolling between Jedi & BH since we aren’t the only Hunter/ Hunted pair in the game. Every template is at risk of a BH even the BH himself.
- Constructive things might actually start coming out of the Jedi and BH boards?
- It makes people actually control their actions, and try to avoid situations of getting caught if they are breaking a rule.
That’s all!!!!!

Iagree thatthis war between BH and Jedi is getting out of hand and is ruining the game.
One issue, would this make BH the police force of the game? If so would it make everone want to become a BH and so dilute the quality of the profession. Thereforethey should make it just as hard to Master BH as it is to become a Jedi, BH versions of the village quests for example.

The animosity of Jedi toward BHs is not because Jedi are the only target available to BHs. The animosity stems from losing xp when getting killed, pure and simple. Also, Jedi are not the only targets available to BHs.

In a word, no. In a few more words.....Jedi is a profession that gets "cool powers", lightsabres, uniqueness (used to be), etc... For this "advantages", we are subject to being hunted should we gain enough vis to put us on the terms. In otherwords, we can be forced into PvP in the event we use these powers in public. The REAL problem is that 75% of the Jedi out there have not come to term with this yet and do not like being forced into PvP and the chance that they might lose several hours worth of grinding time. They want to run around healing wounds and healing duelers at spaceports, but dont want to pay the price that comes with it.

These rules should NOT apply to everyone. Everyone in the game should, with the exception of Jedi, be able to play their profession essentially any way they want to without fear of forced PvP.

You've said nothing ofwhat happens to the non-jedi after their bounty is fulfilled. What are the consequences? A Master Smuggler cares nothing for xp. Or will he lose his skills? How does a Master Entertainer/Dancer/Musician defend themselves? Or does this only apply to combat professions?
Honestly, putting non-jedi PCs on the terms will just turn into a form of griefing. Instead of animosity of Jedi toward BH's you'll have animosity of everyone towards everyone (since you suggested even a BH can be put on the terms). I think a change like this will only add to the degridation of a game that already has way to much hate and has been going down hill for quite some time.

The animosity comes for the most part from a lack of maturity in the player base from both professions.
Coming as a Jedi it just boggles my mind how people can go through the whole process of becoming a Jedi knowing that part of the risk is you will be hunted if you gain visibility and if you die to a BHer you'll lose XP and then complain about it when it happens.
I started grinding when solo XP was good/viable but was still low level when the CU hit and made the decision to group knowing I was taking a chance of being hunted and could lose XP which I have lost XP since the change.
I figured once the CU hit I had a few decisions at my disposal...1. quit and stop giving SOE my money if I didn't like it. 2. Solo grind and take it extremely slow. 3. Suck it up and group and deal with the deaths....learn from them...and continue on. Personally I chose number 3 and have loved it even with the deaths. The BHers I've fought have all been extremely cool and I learned alot from each encounter.
On the other end of the spectrum I know there were people out there as BHers griefing the same players over and over....complaining when they died as well.
I see alot of animosity get created from players that don't like to lose in PvP and take it as an ego shot when they get beat. Not able to handle losing well and scream bloody murder when it happens.
I have always seen the animosity towards templates even without the Jedi/BH rivalry. The CMs of old come to mind.

Well, as both Jedi and BH, I disagree, although both these reasons are part of the larger whole.
The biggest reason for animosity, is that there is a small minority of BHs who think that Jedi should not only be killed easily, but in large numbers. Those BHs are also the loudest and most obnoxious whiners.
These BHs are some of the reasons (but not the only reasons) these nerf bats have started swinging hard lately. The complain often enough and loud enough that they nerf the Jedi powers. Then it becomes unbalanced, because the BHs are griefing the lower end Jedi. So then they nerf the BHs, and so on and so forth.
There are far too many BHs (of course, one is far too many) who seem to think it is their *right* to be able to kill another player at whim, as often as they want, and that it should be easy, and they should be lauded as heroes. They do not want it to be challenging, as it should be, they want it to be easy, and fast, and if it is not, then Jedi most certainly are overpowered.
I have no problem working for my mark, as I do not do it for the money, I do it for the thrill and the challenge. I don't do it to make my mark loose exp, because I think there should be no jedi in the game. I don't do it to make other people's lives hell. I do it to make the game fun and interesting.
'nuff said.
