Does it matter? If so, why?

yes, its more important than your maximum damage. if the jedi's defense is a lot higher than your accuracy, your damage will be calculated off of your minimum damage instead of your maximum.

This is exactly what I'm seeing lately. My pistol has a 500 minimum damage w/ PU. So, I'm just considering, should I go and switch to a HLR to get an extra boost in damage. But, the decrease in speed will hurt, yet the increase in range will be such a benefit.

don't forget HLR does energy, and the 2best pistols for bh (scatter and FWG5) do kinetic. Jedi can wear PSGs.

formula works like this

if your accuracy is 750 below their defense your hit for min

if even you hit for min+max / 2

if your accuracy is 750 higher you hit for your max

and there is some forumla for the inbetween i did not list

Now for pvp their is also a .7x penelity... so you can in a since hit below the min on your weapon

For example lets say you minimum is 500 and their defense is 750 higher then your accuracy(from aura etc.) you would actualy hit for 350 damage as your base... of course you can times this by your special mulitplier you are using

If you use Carbines quest a Nym's til you get one over 700 damage, they have at least 170 additional damage points in acid that will not be mitigated by things like synthsteak. Also that weapon is kinetic. Your min hit should be well in the low to mid500s.

Why do this? As others pointed out some Jedi can easily pass 755 D without blinking. Many wear PSG that gimp energy damage. Your accuracy will likely be below their defense, especially with a temp that has Mdef in it.

Things like advanced aim from rifle xxx3 and deuterium pyro can help. Still I'd expect to be using the min damage most of the time.

I use a nyms like that min is 360ish and acid is 170ish

Some things to think about though....

Acid damge is not added with your mulitipler.... so using specials with high elementalis a waste... (except torso shot it seems to work for that special only ... think has something to do with the bleed)

So sac capping these or whatever is a complet waste..

I run a 34% speed pup and sliced my 12% speed slice

I run this macro (I also use kd and torso every time the bleed wears off)

/rangedshot

/pause 1

/placecedshot

/pause 1

This will allow me to fire every second and rack up some serious damage and not have to ever worry about sac (sac is 85 on mine)

Interesting input. Thanks!

When energy resists and PSGs aren't a factor I use my elite carbine, it's 326 base DPS with no PuP, 1056 max , 73 SAC. Not uber and it certainly takes down those BH mission Bosses fine.

also don't forget that the pvp mod (X0.7) does not apply to the elemental damage...

you can have high min. damage rep. blasters or fwg made....or loot a decent Deathdrain D-50....they can get up to 600 min damage sliced/pup'd

Actually I think armor also comes into place. So in that example, if you hit a master defender Jedi with full innate armor, and a good psg, that's almost 60% damage reduction. So base damage would be 350 - 210 = 140.Base attack of course.

hmm, have you tested this? I haven't heard anything about elemental damage passing through synthsteak.
