Thread: Commando/BH Template?

Here is the new template I propose for my MBH:
Master Commando
Master Bounty Hunter
0240 Medic
0030 Enhanced Reflexes
The number break-down:
General Ranged Accuracy 150 (Heavy Weapon Accuracy 55) = 205 (+50 max SEA) = 255
General Ranged Speed 60 (Heavy Weapon Speed 45) = 105 (+50 max SEA) = 155
Ranged Defense 180 (Heavy Weapon Defense 50) = 230 (+50 max SEA) = 280 (+250 Imp. Duelist) = 530
Melee Defense165 (Heavy Weapon Defense 50) = 215 (+50 max SEA) = 265 (+250 Imp. Duelist) = 515
Reasoning:
With the 2 Ranged Cyberarms, you will have a Ranged DB and an 80m range with the high-damage Proton Rifle. This weapon does elemental damage and massive amounts of raw damage at very long ranges.
2 Ranged Cyber Arms are creating 2 holes in your armor. It's been debated back and forth, but the general consensus is that it's not a good idea to wear your arms whilst hunting without a root.
For close-in fighting, the Plasma Flamethrower does massive damage, plus has the added ability of a Fire DOT, which can be combined with the Bleed DOT of Torso Shot.
REALLY like flamethrowers.... reminds me of Grand Theft Auto! Great PvP weapon too.... I've had my lunch eaten a few times by a commando with a good flamer
0240 Medic gives a natural Healing Efficiency of 25, using a BE shirt and bandolier that can be easily brought to Healing Efficiency 50 (a 4000 CM has Healing Efficiency 65, only 15 more.) In addition, 0240 Medic grants both Bacta Shot and Bacta Toss, which are "twistable." Obviously not as competent a healer as a 4000 CM, so you will have to rely on Ruby Bliel and Enhanced Stim-D's but to a lesser extent than a non-Medic.
Sure, you have natural healing ability, the problem is the timers. At the novice medic level, the timers are much slower than at the combat medic or doc level. With the limited defenses from the template itself and the armor holes, not sure how you could go toe to toe with a Jedi for very long, when the do catch up to you.
0030 Enhanced Reflexes because after the Ranger Revamp (Pub 26?) we Bounty Hunter will no longer have natural TerrainNegotiation or Burst Run Efficiencyunless we pick up some Ranger. So I forsee a lot of chasing down Jedi (and Smugglers!)while riding a vehicle, and it'dprobably be best if the vehicle's acceleration and turning were tweaked a bit by the Force Sensitive line to ensure being able to catch up, especially since one will probably have to change vehicles once or twice during a pursuit(as they get knocked out.)
Interesting choice of force skills. I personally have this one, and didn't notice much of a difference in the speed, turning, acceleration, and I am xx4x reflexes.
Comments?
I was thinking about this last night. I decided against it though. While it would be hella fun in PvP, I just don't think it would be viable for Jedi hunting. Though I'm VERY interested to see how this works out for you. Think about this way, if you drop what you have now and grind this out, it won't take more than a few hours, or a few more hours to switch to something else since you AREN'T dropping any of your dreaded investigation experience.
Thanks for the feedback!
Well, it looks like the cyberarms are out of the question. I hadn't thought about the holes it would create, but that is very true and with limited healing ability/no rootin the first place that can't be afforded.
Commando /does/ have snares though, in one of their grenade-types (I forget which.) Maybe snare + KD (you could spam with a Rocket Launcher to get innate KDs too) would make up for the lack of root and allow for cyberarms? Not sure though.
Obviously 0240 Medic isn't all that great, but it is the most a Master Commando/Master Bounty Hunter can afford. One can only hope that because a Master Commando has such an ability to dish out damage, and Master Bounty Hunter has such an ability to absorb damage, that in the end you'll be able to out-damage the Jedi/Smuggler and not have to worry so much about healing.
You'd obviously still have to rely on food and stims though.
And of course, my general lack of experience in PvP means that I could be making some false assumptions here. Please feel free point out where this may/may not work.
Another thought is:
Look at how 'Revamps' are progressing.
Squad Leader is up this month.
Ranger is up next month.
Smuggler is up the month after that.
What hybrid elite is left after that? Commando.

I tested this with my Jedi and my friend (VALIS MBH/Mcomando/rest medic) he had one of the baddest flamers on scylla server.
I buffed up with my normal foods ( I always take something to stop fire) and He set there and shot me over and over again and could not start me on fire. The damage to me (at the time all i was was master D ) was less then 100 hit points of damage.
I don't do the MCM/MBH thing.
I highly doubt that M Commando and M BH is as weak as you would portray. Sounds like an agenda to me.
Currently I am MBH/MPistoleer/4000 CM. Good heals, a root, nice KDs,state effects. Twist advanced critical shot with advanced quickdraw with a nice pistol, and I do good damage. More than just 100 points.
With even more powerful weapons, I doubt I'd only be hitting for 100. Your friend must have just plain sucked.
Some people have replied that this indeed has potential, so I am going to try it. Just means a few hours of more grinding if I'm wrong. Ahhhh, I love not being Jedi.

You know this is funny you ask for input and I give you some honest input and you pretty much come out and call me a liar. Do me a favor and do become a master comando/mbh. As soon as you finish the temp let me know and we can duel. If we aren't on same server I will find a jedi to duel you with. I never said that my friend couldn't do more damage with a different weapon, I said He was only doing 100 damage with a kickass flamer. And we weren't dueling in the beginning of the battle I would stand there and watch my combat log to see the results. Heres a tip for ya next time you ask for input include this...*please let me know what you think only if its a positive comment for what I want to achieve, otherwise I might just call you a liar with a agenda! *
lol
It seems the current Dev team on staff HIGHLY favors Ranged Elites.
And it's about time too.
Meaning absolutely no offence to any of the melee players out there, butI do remeber a time when the "standard" developer answer to the melee vs. ranged debate was "don't bring a knife to a gun fight".
The whole "power hammer" scene just doesn't strike me as particularly "Star Wars". EQ maybe, but not Star Wars. =\

What's this about terrain negotiation? We aren't loosing anything. Rangers just receive extra terrain negotiation.

Think about it... how many TKA's did you see in the movies? I can't think of any personally. I don't remember seeing ANY power hammers, scythes, vibro knucklers, etc. All I remember is that pretty much everyone in just about every scene had a blaster or carbine in hand or strapped to their hips.
