After having experienced this a few times I realized the best defense is suprise not the run-up-and-attack-the-jedi.

Often times the jedi knows as soon as you pick up his mission that he is BH tefed. His options 1) Im uber bring it on, 2) OH SH!t /forcerun to house and remain there for 3 days, 3) doesnt realize whats going on.

Tip 1) The Jedi House sitter.

When you pick up a player mission let the seeker spam about 10 times, if the Jedi location doesnt move he is probably in his house. If he remains online, chances are he wants to play, yet is waiting to see if a BH will show up at his location. DON'T, if you do most likely he will log and play his alt for 3 days. If his house is near a shuttle port or major city with starport/shuttle port/mission terminals, set up camp there. Set up your droids (healing droid or bomb droid depending on your temp)at your choice of location and wait. Set up a bogus spam complete with the AFK overhead asking for some bogus Eq or armor. NEVER WALK AROUND WITH THE 'MASTER BOUNTY HUNTER' tag on. Heavily populated areas such as MO on Dant are ideal. Most jedi will think that after 30 min or so if no BH has come for them that it is safe to come out. Then they will venture out to do what they have to do. The longer you let them stay out without attacking them, the safer they will feel. The goal is to either wait for them to start grinding or for them to enter a major city or starport. You camo is other players, the more the merrier. Once again major city or starport. The quickest thing to give you away is a lone biker headed straight for their loction. /forcerun...gone for 3 days. THIS TAcTIC REQUIRES PATIENCE.

Tip 2) The Uber Jedi.

This is the cocky I'll pound whatever comes my way Jedi. To face this jedi face to face is either costly or suicide. Usually the 4 hit incap is the gift from them. Then they dance on your face and /shout how much a noob you are and how pitiful you performace was. There ego is their downfall. Most times this jedi is a duel freak and loves to challange and prove how tough he/she is. He will be in areas like Bestine or AH or the like killing overts or /dueling. This is your tactic. You will need your heal or bomb droid for him. The key is to either catch him healing himself or in the middle of a duel LONG duel (this is essential and wears out his force) and wait for the alpha strike. Reliance on good weapons and food is essential for survival here. Which ones? Your choice based on your style of play.

All in all what you want to do is IDENTIFY your target, the learn about him. Is he a Grinder or a Duelist. Once done /friend him or record his name somewhere and do something else. Once you do that all you have to do is go the the planet the Jedi is one and /who . That will tell you where he is. The biggest benifit of the seeker is it will tell you, based on the jedis movement, wether he is static or not. If he is static, you remain static. Most Jedi are accostomed to the getamissionandattack BH, most dont expect a BH to hold onto a mission for a while.

Suprise, deception, calculation.

Never have the BH tag up. Ever.

Never travel with your armor on or weapons showing. Holding a scatter pistol is a good indication of who you are.

Master a few other professions than your current template. When examined (and you will be) it can/will throw off your prey

Never put things into your profile like: numbers of Jedi killed, the words Bounty Hunter, or anything that would indicate who you really are. These are all dead giveaways.

When affronted with "Who are you here with" tell them you wish to join their grinding group. If they say they are full, leave the area, and come back to your mark later, or set up a trap outside the gates of the city they are closest to.

What about their names and dates?

Honestly, I try to be so sneaky/stay so far away, that they never even have reason to examine me...

And I don't know the range on it, but I always do a /tar jediname as I do a ride by...works great for those grinders...ride off a little bit and then come back and KAPOW!! Great fun...especially if they're a spin group healer...then you get to laugh as the whole group gets taken out

NEVER NEVER NEVER AUTOATTACK DURING A JEDI FIGHT, IT IS SUICIDE AND ALMOST GUARNTEED TO END IN THE KD BUG!!! It acts the same as a macro and you will get the 'you cannot knockdown recover while knocked down' because the que is still backed up. Forget the CTRL+Left mouse and do your specials manually.

P.s

If you remember pre-cu you automatically had an auto attack. Post cu you have to toggle it by holding Cntrl, then Left Mouse clicking the special you want to toggle as your auto attack and you get a little check mark in the upper right hand corner of the special you selected. To detoggle it you have to hold Cntrl then Left Mouse click the special again and the check mark goes away and the auto attack it turned off. Autoattack is great for NPCs but sucks for Players.

Good tips my friend. I always land in the least popular SP on the planet, let the droids track and then sit. After I gather some idea of what they're up too, based on movment patterns or lack there of...I make a cursory ride by on my swoop (or run by if in Bestine, etc...), looking like I'm on my way somewhere else. I do this all in my "street clothes"...it's a great way to stalk...I've had the same mark walk by me 6 times whil I sat in a vendor tent in my spacesuit and "alliance recruit" tag.

Although I'm pretty new to the Jedi hunting, I've found this to work wonders...much more so then my first attempts at running up and tanking...you can all guess how that turned out. And patience is really key...I have a mark right now that I'm waiting and waiting on...well known, thinks he's uber...so I have 2 more days to catch him with his pants down and give him a ganking he'll never forget. (That just sounds wrong)...but if I can, this three day hunt will be more than worth it.

You are forgetting one thing. Most Jedi can spot a BH instantly by the fact they are doc buffed to the testicles. CL80 Doc buffed = BH always. Oh and of course /duel

Edit: I should also say, if you want surprise, the worst thing you can do is get within 128m of your mark. As soon as I see a dot on my radar which I have blown up on my screen, I mouse over for the name /tar name /ex.

The kill that was most fun for me was a guy guildwarring in Theed from ATO, who was busy channeling, the idiot channeled to 300 health, so I did a snipershot at 80 meters distance .

I once also killed someone duelling, who got incapped, I only walked in for the DB and then left

Gotta love dirty tactics, the reason why I have gone BH

I normally equip a robe, so i look like a jedi , make sure im totally unbuffed and unequip my weapon, and check a few nearby houses to see if they have public access (you would be surprised how many do). Ill go inside and camp for maybe 30-45 mins just incase they takin a big dump or whatever. when i get a visual ill make sure they are at least 10m from the house then run my macro to equip weapon/armor and buffs and kick some ass

Not to get into a tiff over methods. But you run into two Jedi 1) Uber L33tness who doesnt care who knows where he is at because he believes he can beat anyone 2) the Super Scarced OHSH!T BHgonnagetme! HouseSitter3dayquitter. #2 Will do any and everything, including your method to hide (makes you wonder how he became visible in the first place), everything from AFK cloaking to /forcerun, to housesitting. Most Jedi nowadays on most servers, especially Bria fall into #1 or in between the two and usually dont waste time with all the commands. Its easier to thwart a/respec BH who wants the 20 min kill by sitting in your house. Sadly a true hunter is rare, most /respec BHs want the Player bouties to be as easy as the NPC bounties. But vs a true hunter the Jedi will die about 3 out of 5 times. Why? Method. Deception, Calculation and Suprise.

Most of the time your seeker will give you volumes of infoconcerning the wearabouts of the Jedi (in house if his waypoint doesnt adjust in about 10 cycles, running if waypoint adjust a 1k meters every few seconds). /who is a nice addition as a doublecheck to the seekerALSO to find who is in the area with the Jedi.......If there is a crapload of his guildmates in the area with him, the chance of the friendly /DB or /duel to break paralize or friendly heals go up exponentally. No one likes a BH, Reb or imperial so most will do anything to help a Jedi beat one.

/who is not the end all search but it is just one more tool to use at a BH disposal, but like seekers can be circumvented by a determined Jedi (going into space, wookie planet, the aforementioned method by Salvation if you use it properly.

P.S.

/addfriend (good way to check wether the Jedi is online or not)

Let the Hunt begin
