I know a bunch of people who are confused on how to hunt Jedi. I know of at least three MBHs that always get whipped by Jedi, even when they stack all the foods and use all the popular tricks and special combinations. So to anyone who keeps getting consistently pwned -- just follow your gut.
Before I start, I'd like to just say this -- don't be afraid to leave if you're certain the Jedi knows you're there for him. BHs weren't meant to win against the Alpha class of SWG like it was a duel. You're going to be relying on stealth and first strike... that's how you take down the 226ks. For example, I hit a guy up who was messing with his ship at the Starship Terminal in Theed. If I had send him a /tell asking him to eat all his food and get ready for a fight, I probably wouldn't have won... but because I got him at just the right time, I got the payout.
Now, "following your gut" consists of several things. It's not, for example, "Stack this food / this food / this drink / Booster Blue" or "Start out with a KD, then land Dizzy/Stun while he's KDed, then Snare, then kite..." or anything like that. The first thing is caution.
Always be cautious. From the time you know what planet your mark is on, you're going to need to try your best to stay out of sight. And if you have to stay in sight, don't look conspicuous. To do this, you're going to need to know the least-used starports on that planet. Generally, this'll be obvious -- like Nashal on Talus, Kor Vella or Tyrena on Corellia, and so on and so forth. Your goal is to not be spotted until you open fire. Of course, if you can blend into a crowd, go for it -- the MO is a great place like this (if your server always has it packed, like mine.) In a huge group, nobody would really suspect you.
If you don't think that guilds with grinding Jedi report any blue dot CL80 they see with a BH badge, you're living under a rock. So what's the solution? Don't be seen... and you don't even need cloak/cover up for it. Just follow these simple rules:
1) Use the least-used starport on the planet. It's not only good to be secretive, but if the place is totally empty, you can launch a planetary seeker right there instead of having to go out of town.
2) Never shuttle into a player city right near the WP. Even if it's only 200m out of the city, go to the nearest shuttleport and bike in.
The next is NAMES. Too many BHs that I know of just get the WP and ride in. If you've got a guild or friends... use them! Wait 1000m from the waypoint and get a name, and then ask your guild or friends. If the Jedi has a reputation (as in, if he's known to have MPowers, or if he's known to be a newbie, or if he's known to be the best player on your server) you can use it to adjust your tactics. If he's got a rep for being a runner, then you know to place an emphasis on snares first and then KD, just to make sure you definitely land it (and KD him if you don't, thus preventing his escape.)
After that, it's situational awareness. Where is your WP? It's generally going to be one of the following:
1) Inside a player city -- Chances are, going into the city at this point is going to result in a failure. Most of the time he'll be in a house... and even more of the time, there are going to be people who will give him a heads up. This'll either make for a house sitter, or a very prepared Jedi. Either way, it doesn't look good for you.
2) Outside a player city (100m to 1000m) -- This guy is probably grinding out of his town. With the new BH TEF (the one that makes it so Jedi can't enter houses even if they haven't attacked), this is a great time to attack. I've found that you should wait for one track, get to 300m or so, then open up your overhead map. The overhead has a larger radius than normal radar and visual. Wait for a second track, and if the guy has moved more than just slightly, you should probably start moving in a little closer. Remember that grinding will reduce his Force, and that is when you want to strike.
3) Grinding out of the MO -- Same rules as above, but you're far less likely to be suspected, ESPECIALLY if you just keep driving. Since there are tons of people coming and going, you can't suspect every single dot that passes by (like you would with #2). However, if you sit at 100m wearing your armor and packing a Proton Carbine, you begin to look a LITTLE suspicious. Keep your bike hotbarred to F12 or something, then do the surprise bike hop. If you're driving near the Jedi (but not at him) and you're going full speed, they'll suspect you're just going somewhere. But when you immediately store your bike using a hotbar and follow up with a KD, you shock the hell out of him. You can even macro this.
4) In the middle of nowhere -- He may be in a player city that has no shuttleport and is not registered on the planetary map. To check, try looking at Mission Terminals in your Planetary Map. Generally (although not always), a city that doesn't show up on the map will have a mission terminal, which you'll see there. If there's no term, you can bet that he's probably blowing up a base. Since you're probably not same faction hunting, check to see if any bases of your faction are in the area on your map. Double check with /find (your faction) and if the WP is there, he's bustin'. It's best to wait until he's been fighting for a while, then move in for the kill when everything is done and his force is low.
5) In the middle of an NPC city -- He'll be dueling 50% of the time in a static city. This is when you can get the sweetest deathblow of all -- the deathblow gained without firing a shot. Wait until someone incaps him and just grab the DB. If they get close to incapping your mark, you can finish the job (if they got close and the last 2 incaps were in 10 minutes, you can triple incap him in one shot sometimes). The other 50% is PvPing. Same rules apply as above, but it's much harder for him to know who the BH is if there are a lot of overts. He may not even realize you were a BH until he gets the message that he lost XP.And remember... if you have no gun equipped, /deathblow does NOT give you a TEF. This means that if he gets up before the DB timer is over, he'll never even know you tried (in case he's dueling lots of people and you want to give it another try.)
So, have fun, and good luck!
