you can only use one item of each type to modify a specific field.

outside of that there may be some sort of cap.

For instance if you use a Booster Blue to get +20% -20% +20% +20% you can not use Felbar to get +10% health +10% health regen at the same time.

Also if you use Vagnerian Canape you can not use a Bofa Treat or something else with similar buffs at the same time.

You can how ever mix food and drink, you can use Vagnerian Canape and Vasarian Brandy at the same time.

oops... anyway

I go get an inspiration buff, then 4 buffs from the doc, then I take my pikatta pie and my crispic, followed by blob candy and thunder something drink, and a brandy, and a pixie followed by a one of those mini shots for pistol accuracy.... then it seems like I can't add anything else. Even though I still have stomach left, it won't let me take other foods or drinks, and it won't let me take the other minishot for pistol speed...

so is there some sort of artificial cap like a toon can only have 10 buffs at a time or something?
