I use duelist stance a lot in PvE - once it is active I don't see any difference in its effectiveness whether I am moving or not.

Does it really not work when you're running around??

That's what I thought

Mind you, I'm sure I have moved during the warmup before and still had it take affect... could have been a lag issue though I guess.

haven't actually tested it in combat but in the description and while activated improved duelist stance is +250defence.
