I am here to tell the story of a friend of mine (let's call himJohnny)who took his first Jedi bounty last week. He had just gained Investigation 4 and MBH a few days before and felt he was ready to take on a Jedi with a 225k reward. The first oneJohnny took was actually online and not on Kashyyyk (surprisingly). Even more surprisingly, he was outside of the starport in Mos Eisley.

My friend heads to Mos Eisley and begins to scope out the area. It doesn't take him long to see his mark (let's call him Bobby). Bobby is healing people, talking to people, and generally just socializing. Johnny isn't sure what to do, since he knows that if he attacks Bobby, all of Bobby's Jedi friends who are standing around will only heal Bobby.

At this point, I showed up. Johnny had told me about it, and I decided to come with the intent of cheering on my friend and taking some screenshots for the memories (I didn't go for the purpose of grouping with Johnny and healing him as he fought, as I'm sure someone will accuse me of doing). Right as I showed up, Bobby was standing alone as his friends had just left to go fight some Rebels in Anchorhead. I sat down in the corner, and watched as Johnny took advantage of the opportunity to start attacking.

With Johnny's buffs and extremely good weapons, it only took him maybe seven shots (give or take a few)to finish off the Jedi (especially since the first thing he did was knock him down). I watched in confusion as the Jedi did nothing except pull out his lightsaber. He didn't heal himself, and as far as I could tell he wasn't attacking Johnny back. I realized, once the Jedi was down to about 3/4 health, that Bobby was probably not at his keyboard. At this point it was too late. I tried to tell Johnny that he was attacking an AFK Jedi, but by the time I said this Johnny had DB'd the Bobby.

The instant Johnny realized what he had done, he was mortified. He sent a tell to the Jedi, apologizing and letting him know that he had not realized Bobby was probably AFK, this was his first kill, he may be inexperienced but he has enough honor not to attack an AFK Jedi. At that point there was nothing more we could do. The Jedi cloned only a few minutes after, so we left.

Thirty seconds after Bobby cloned, Johnny began receiving the first of the hate tells. Bobby was furious that something like this could have happened. He accused Johnny of lying, of being a respec BH, of buying his character off eBay from Intaru. Johnny tried to explain that if Johnny had only put up an AFK tag, or perhaps briefly logged off while he was AFK, this never would have happened. After all, why would you leave your Jedi character out in the open and vulnerable?

Well, since Johnny and I were still standing outside of the starport, trying to decide what to do, it took the Jedi only a little bit to find us. He immediately began harassing Johnny openly AND in tells, calling him a liar and a coward, and challenging him to duels every few seconds. Once he realized I was with Johnny, I began getting hate tells, asking me if I had been there to heal Johnny, or if I had his bounty too and was to cowardly to do anything but gank squad him?

Long story short, Johnny and I finally just flew to another planet, because Bobby followed us all over town, and pulled out his speeder when we pulled out ours. It was obvious he planned on following us for as long as possible. So we added this Jedi to our /addignore list AND our list of Jedi to kill again later - this time fairly.

So here is my question: Johnny honestly did not mean to do this. He apologized, but frankly I feel that it was Bobby's fault for doing something so stupid. Did Johnny deserve the harsh treatment? Should Johnny have dueled him and proven himself? (I felt like he should have waited until he had Bobby's bounty again, so that he'd at least get something out of dueling him)

I don't think all Jedi are bad - I've met some very cool ones, in fact. But I hate how one Jedi like Bobby can ruin everyone's ideal of Jedi.

Errrr this sounds a little false.

A) Most 225k jedi have Mdef which means hard to kill em in under 10 hits

B)Not to many jedi go afk in the middle of a town

C)I have never seen a 225k soloed. Sorry, after respec, FotM Defender and heals just overpower us BH's (which they should)

D)Ummm you do know there is a new (not really new) TEF system right. Meaning other cant interfere with a Jedi/BH duel. (other than spamming invites and /offerride)

but all that aside, if this did happen, Bobby deserves to die. A full template jedi should know better than to LD/AFK in a town.

Dont pay attention to the hate tells, he just lost about 2-3hr of grinding so he is entitled to a bit of anger

Kudos to your friends first Bounty!! As far as any fault, there is none. In fact I think he timed it perfectly!! Johnny is there to make money. Thats it. He did what he was supposed to do. Just because the Jedi wants to cry about it, doesnt concern you. A mark is a mark after all. Maybe next time that jedi will think twice about going afk. Jedi (as well as the beloved BH) like to cry when things dont go there way! Between these two professions, they will Nerf the whole game!! So congrats to you and your friend!! I think he did GREAT!! If only all Marks were that easy!!

By apologizing to a full temp for killing him AFK or not, you're friend has failed his comrades in arms, and sullied the professions heritage. We no longer grant him the title of Master Bounty Hunter.

His Laser/T21/Pistol will be ritually snapped in half over a knee. His armor will be ripped off and he will be drummed out of the profession.

Since jedi are stronger than BH's (don't argue with me on that one please, I get more trips to the cloner than I give) our job is to catch them when they are vulnerable. My personal favorite pre-CU was when they were in line waiting for a buff or getting a mind buff. Anyway, good job Johnny, don't ever apologize, get used to hate tells and getting banned from player cities. Oh welcome the profession.

Not too suspicious. He says the person got Inv4 and MBH a few days before. Considering the most intelligent path to MBH includes getting all your combat prof's done first, and then investigation, he could have had the combat exp needed for MBH banked already and /respec'd into or earned Investigation 4 which would have been his last barrier to MBH. Once that's bought and paid for he could then spend the combat exp to become a MBH.

Some good advice here. When getting /hateTells just be kind by not replying and simly type /addignore <offender>

As for "most have Mdef", not entirely true. You will notice that your later statement about fotm being more the case in point here. The players who play the FOTMs are a completly different breed from those who build a character with an intended roll orther then to capatalize on a few unbalanced abilities and poorly designed professions.

Either way, congratz on the bounty and it's too bad that you guys had to endure the childish behavior.
