Thread: advice needed on how to deal with force cloak

i was following a cloaked jedi around for a while, until i finally got him in a spot where he uncloaked in town to do some business, i promptly began my attack. We fought for 10 minutes at least until I presume his force ran low so he rooted me and ran away to cloak. I sent my droid again to track and basically followed him all around until her uncloaked the entire time he was chatting with me via tells. He was a nice guy and admitted he was letting his force refill. Basically I messed up a few minutes into the next battle and fell to him.

I'm not saying he did anything wrong, i don't think there was an exploit. I just want to know how I should deal with something like this? I need advice so I can beat this next time around.

The best thing you can do solo is alternate your roots, KD's, and snares. Fire a good shot first, follow with a root, when that wears off KD and snare then stay within 20m at all times until you can root again. Its about the only chance you have. If you have CM then you can paralyze as well. Hope that helps.

hmm i don't have any roots.

I've got MBH/MasterCarbines with the rest of my points dabled away to heal and with FS defece.

you could put a droid on follow. just make sure the droid healing capability is turned on. also another thing to do is have a friend on a swoop place them on /follow, that way they cant get 20m out to cloak, and you have a fair fight.

If you stick close enough to them and they arent using force meditate they will eventually have to uncloak. If you are within range then you can reinstitute the tef to at least keep them from entering structures if it wore off. If they are force meditating...your pretty much screwed since nothing breaks cloak and that regens force. You can hang around them and force them to keep it going if your into wasting some of their time (and yours). Best bet is to get off paralyze, kd, root, snare, any and all you have before they can manage to cloak. Its a pain, but *shrug* such is life for us lol.


Imo, its best to sacrifice some dmg and risk more healing for yourself to get off a shot that controls their postion. You get some close calls and it doesnt always work, but its worth it i think.

bah kinda makes me wish force wouldn't regen while cloaked. the friend on a speeder would work. The main reason I think this jedi was able to cloak was because we were fighting in bela vistel and with all the twists and turns of the city with few walkable paths, he found his chance and got away.

Keep a bleed on them, they can't stay cloaked when bleeding, it breaks it

dots do break cloak, even if its the weak 73 tick from torso shot.

This is absolutely the best bet. Cloak is hard to counter when you are 1vs1. Sure you can root, snare, mez, ect.....but I'll tell you right now eventually I know I'll get 20m from you and when I do /cloak. Best bet is to kill the target in the inital attack if they have cloak, if you don't it'll be hard to kill a Cloaker unless you have a willing friend to follow the Jedi.

Is this intended or did it come about as a result of Force Choke being able to break Cloak? Either way this IS intriguing news and it makes me glad to be a CM.
