Ok guys, this is the diet I am suggesting to my pvp customers (and will be eating myself).


2 Light BE (micronutrient supliment) Vassarian Brandy.

1 Thaktillo

2 Synthsteak (1 to be consumed when first wears off)


These five foods will fill you up completely, but I think it will be killer in pvp.


+800 Mind/Focus/Willpower for 30 minutes

+25% damage reduction for 60 hits

+40 defense vs. knockdown for 15 minutes


As far as I can tell, the 25% armor reduction added to a 75% suit of composite makes you practically invulnerable for 60 hits, which is more then enough to kill most anyone in your way. The only problems I can see with this is 1) If i'm wrong about the grouping of armor and synthsteak, and 2) non food users whining about exploiters.

What do you guys think of this for a Template, I'm tying to balance PVP and PVE, but my skills will mostly be based on Fencer.


Master Marksman

Commando 0/0/4/0

Brawler 4/4/0/0

Master Fencer

Teras Kasi 4/0/0/0

Pistoleer 4/0/0/0


I'm using TK for the mediation and power boost, plus force of will, flame thrower for whatever I feel like lighting up at the time, and using the pistol skills for + dodge

I hope you have novice medic in their. People seem to forget that healing themselves is very important, especially for melee people.

First of all, I would like to thank those of you who responded to my previous post. I have finally decided on a template and I as asking your assistance in accessing its viability. As I said in the thread that started last week, I am only interested in pve and I am definitely set on being a Swordsman. Here is my template:


Master Swordman

Teras Kasi Artist 4/0/0/4 (I want the Meditation and the added defenses which Swordman lacks)

Scout 4/0/0/0 (I love Mask Scent)

Medic 4/4/3/4/ (I want to be able to heal myself)


I do realize that some of the points put in Medic may be wasted (e.g. Organic Chemistry) since stimpacks that I buy will be much better than any that I could possibly make on my own; therefore, I am considering going Medic 4/4/3/0 and Teras Kasi Artist 4/0/4/4 instead. Frankly, I don't know any other options.


I do have a few questions for which I could not find answers.


1) I don't understand all of the mechanics behind Ranged Defense and Melee Defense. I understand that the higher the numbers are, the less the target (being me) is hit. What I don't understand is exactly how these numbers are put into practice. For example: my Master Swordsman will have Melee Defense +15 and Ranged Defense +20 (according to Allakazaam) and with Teras Kasi Artist (giving +60 and +45 respectively) my defenses will increase to Melee Defense +80 and Ranged Defense +60. How much of a difference will that make when put into practical application in pve. To look at the numbers one would assume that I should get hitfour times less when I add the modifiers for Teras Kasi Artist since the combined modifiersof both Professions are four times better. I guess my question is what are the exact mechanics behind these numbers and are the defense bonuses worth the skill points being spent? Once again I am talking about for pve not pvp.


2) My next question is along the same lines as my first but instead regarding various condition defenses (e.g. Blind, Stun, Dizzy, etc.). Will the added bonuses from the TerasKasi Artist's Balance Conditioningtree be worth the skill points that are being expended?


Please feel free to pick this template apart and give anyadvice that you are willing to share. I would be grateful. Thank you.

If you want 9 more skill points, you can get Scout 2-0-0-0 (since you get Mask Scent at Exploration 2) you can put those 9 skill points somewhere else now.

2-0-0-0 scout is basically worthless though because with basic masked scent kreetles will be breaking it 2 seconds after you put it up. I've been desperately holding on to 1-0-0-0 scout though to have some terrain neg so I'm not walking up hills...if I could get bonuses elsewhere I would love to reallocate those SP though.

This template is a lot like mine though, so good work. I've been a TKM for a while now so to be honest I don't really remember life before a bunch of melee defense that well...I can say that it does seem to make a big difference in tanking. My BH friend was very impressed by my ability to tank a canyon kryat with only infrequent healing (buffed and with 80% kin armor of course) while he would be hit for almost 2k with armor close to mine on when he got too close to heal me...granted that was probably one of those back pocket hits kryats like to pull out, but still... Despite this I have yet to get to loot a kryat as every time a punk commando come by on his speeder and lets me tank as he stacks up flames on the kryat...Master sword can do a lot of damage but without a viable bleed I can't even touch a 3k burn dot...

Really, I've become a little dissilusioned with my template lately... The whole point was to hunt kryats once I got my jedi so I could keep him in pearls...but it seems thedirect damage I can do as MHS just isn't enough to outdo the DOT loot thieves out there, and that makes me a sad panda... I'll probably have to end up as another 4-0-0-4 TKA, 0-0-4-0 commando, and smuggler for feign if I get too low...though I hate relying on DOT instead of direct damage because it seems too much like cheating...I didn't say it was cheating (so cool your flames commandos), I just said it feels like it to me... I have only been heavy sword a couple weeks though, so I don't pretend to know all the ins and outs...maybe it's just my approach...(I still haven't fully removed my TKA approach of special spamming, though I have gotten better. ) I'll give it a bit longer since I do enjoy it as one of the more tactical combat profs I've had yet...

I so wish that besides damage done being taken into account for loot rights, damage taken was too...or at least a formula to make direct damage worth more than DOT for loot rights. Ever since I went brawler (I was an evil BH and more evil commando) I've had this strange sensation in my hind quarters while fighting large mobs around hybrid combat classes... Half the time I get buffs and good armor just so I can serve as a tank for someone else. Please people, don't mistake me for your new graul mauler.

Well, I wasn't that crazy about the game at first. I played Ultima Online for nearly 4 years (still have the account). I found playing in 3D to be very disconcerting to say the least. It took me a week just to get used to it. I only started playing the game because of my best friend who started the week it hit the shelves. He nagged at me until I yielded. I really planned on cancelling the game after the first month (been playing about two and a half weeks) but it has sort of grown on me. While it is a science fiction game, it does have a bit of a fantasy feel to it that appeals to me on some level. There are some things that I don't like about it such as the excessive dependence on other players. That is why I am trying for a template that is at least somewhat independent. I really like to solo. Originally I was going to be a Master Swordsman and a MasterCreature Handler and put the rest of the points in Medic. Iwas't crazy about dragging monsters around to fight for me.


I think that I am doing alright so far. I have Swordsmanship at 3/2/3/2. By the end of the day, I am hoping to have 3/3/3/3. Yesterday I was 2/2/2/2 when I started soloing on Dantooine. Iwas mainly going after savage quenkers and huurton howlers. I had little trouble soloing them in pairs. I could also take two huurton howlers and two huurtons at the same time. I didn't think that Iwas ready to solo picket and bol lairs yet. Since I picked up some extra Melee Toughness, Damage Mitigation 2 andsome Defenses versus Dizzy, Intimidate, and Stunwith the two new levels I acquired, I might give the pickets a whirl. Yesterday when I was 2/2/2/2 I did solo a single fierce picket protector (the ones that are aggressive) and I edged him out. I know that he is a good bit tougher than the regular pickets, so I am figuring that with the added defenses, I should be in pretty good stead when I try to solo picket and bol lairs. If Ifind that I amgetting trounced, I'll just go back to huurton howler lairs andsavage quenkers.
