Thread: Better Bounty Hunters?

In the system prior to today.....

NPC Marks = Easy Kill = Happy, but Mediocre Bounty Hunters

Jedi Marks = Moderately Difficult Kill = Frustrated Bounty Hunters

Looks like today's changes will...

NPC Marks = Hard Kills = Unhappy, but better Bounty Hunters of time

Jedi Marks = "Easier" = Happy Bounty Hunters (because of the higher level npcs)

Do you think this was put in as a sort of "training" aspect, to make players better overall? If I am consistantly fighting marks that are no where near as power as a PvP opponent, then I get complacent and do not enjoy much PvP because of the vast difference in diffuculty. At the same time, if I consistantly fight npcs closer in skill and power to PvP marks, it's a form of training and will make me a better combatant in PvP.

Seems legitamate to me....

I think the "training" aspect is a nice side effect, but the devs vision is probably to highlight two of their favorite topics: grouping and elite content.

People were never supposed to solo krayts, solo loot the Corvettes, or farm Necrosis. They did, and SOE changed things. People found out how to do it again. SOE changed things again. People will once again develop new tactics or templates to solo whatever they please. They can take the "solo" out of the game, but the solo artists will find a way to put it back in.

They probably just applied their "this is what a CL82 should be like" to everything across the board, including BH marks-- making what is considered a solo profession unsoloable as well.

We just need to wait and see if the devs consider this a mistake, or in three days someone will have a new FotM BH template that can take down the Death Star with an unsliced survival knife.

Agree.... I'm up for giving it a shot though. I like a good challenge.

When the game first came out.... many moons ago.... Wamprats killed players with ease. No one understood anything about mechancis, crafting, fighting, etc. There was a learning period and the "super" or "god" templated emerged. Months went by and the Jedi came out. Then everyone either wanted a Jedi or a template to beat them. So even MORE super templates were deveised, strategies, tactics, etc.

The devs so "no.... you can't do that"

Enter the great "combat upgrade" suddenly, everyone is back to being wasted by wamprats again. Time goes by, we figure out how to best use our templates, resources, tactics again, and now we see the emergence of the "super" templates again.

Again, the devs so "no... you can't do that"

This time the upgrade the static world, and do not change the player side. A wise move...... I'm excited to see how it pans out.

I'm with you there. My first couple trial marks pre-patch were a surprising challange compared to when I was a BH pre-CU and the marks went down pretty easy. (We also had Dizzy+KD.) I am up for this even if it's harder. I'll work on the tactics and it will probably be more like PvP, where you will need to pay attention to the whole range of DPS, debuffs, armor, food, HAM, etc.

My only concern is when you pull an elite and track it down to find it's a double gold. From what I have been reading here, it's either drop the mission or hope some of your friends are on. The regen on these marks sounds incredible. If they are going to keep it that way, maybe they can make up to double silver the 30k mark and make a 40k or 50k double gold, so we can be sure not to pull those unless we have backup. People can still pull those missions for loot, and solo people like me won't have to /flail out in the middle of Dath.

If things stay like they are, you're right-- I think it will create a lot more efficient Jedi hunters out there.

Comming from my perspective I'm a new BH only 4 days since I finished my template but,I've been a Master Powers enhancer 4004 defender 0040 healer 4000 sabers 0400 jedi since just after the CU hit. Icould solo giant kryats necro pre pub 24.

Its not all bad I had a few boss marks pre pub 24 & those where very very easy. the 5 boss marks I've had since pub 24 where....

1st attacked it & burst run out when my mind went low made another run at the same mark same result 3rd run at same mark changed up my tactics a little killed it in 10 min

2nd same tactics as when I killed the first one but I'm more comfortable killed it in 6.5 min

3rd -5th killed in under 5 min

my current BH template is just like my jedi template most people said I'd get owned but its a fun one Master BH Master Pistols CM 0004.

What I don't understand is I've only been a Bh for 4 days now & i'm not havign much problems with these boss marks but people who have had a chance to play BH for a long time are stumped /shrug
