I have recently picked a few bounty missions and the NPC has had a < > around its name. Does anyone know what this means?

Thanks, what i actually mean is though when you click on the character it shows his name with the chevrons around it. EG <name>. Its only happened a couple of times just wondering if it was a bug or if it means anything

The white chevrons indicate an "Elite" mark whereas double gold chevrons are the "Boss" marks. And no, Bosses don't necessarily drop better loot - it is all random. Most of my good loot has been off elites and normal npcs.

IF I HAVE A NPC BOUNTY MISSION, AND I'M IN A GROUP, CAN THE REST OF MY GROUP ATTACK THE JEDI MARK, OR NOT? IF NOT.. CAN THEY AT LEAST HEAL ME?

first of all, NPC missions are NOT Jedi marks. second of all, your group cannot attack the NPC mark, however, then can heal you
