Hey all,

Really new to BH, and grinding it up... Am a master smuggler, will always be, and was looking for a new angle to the game. Luckily enough I had quite some scouting, rifles and pistols xp banked, so I went to BH x344 pretty fast.

And I have now grown to 1344. I must say: I like the new game BH adds, so I think I will go all the way to MBH. I am not sure yet if I wanna get involved in Player Jedi hunting, but we'll see when I get to master.

Anyway, the question is this: is MBH-MSmuggler a nice template? Anyone got any good experience or tips on this template?

So far I like it, as I loot the slicing components quite often, which helps a LOT being a smuggler....

It depends on what you want to do, hunt jedi or just npc marks. The problem is with that template you will suffer in both ranged accuracy and defenses plus you will be limited in your healing ability. The most you can do is: MBH, MSmuggler, Medic 0200 and you're out of points. You will still be CL 80 but just lacking the healing and having Medic 0200 might not be enough for the boss marks, and forget about hunting jedi. They will wipe the floor with you unless you can get the "Last Ditch" shot to work.

I'm sure people will tell you that they can beat jedi with MBH, MSmuggler and that it's all in how you play your template and every situation is different. But the odds aren't in your favor with that template. Not trying to get you down, just giving my opinions.

Good luck!

I LOVE it man. I do player bounties also and I can hold my own vs. doc and cm templates. I lose a little more than I did with CM but I have a lot more fun doing it this way. I just try to control the fight with Root/snare/concussion shot and startle shot. I'm pistols 0004 currently but I might drop it for some medic because root rarely sticks. You just have to be patient and smart. The template is also cool because you get the title desperado and all your mods are for general speed and acc so you can use any type of gun you want. It feels more smugglerish to me. Good luck and have fun with it man!

In response to that, jediare difficult but not impossible. You just have to approachbounty huntingin a different way. Sinse we don't have healing we have to beintellegent and actually stalk our targets. It's not about outlasting them at all. You CANNOT outlast them with this template, you have to play it dirty and wait for the most opportune time to attack. When they are unbuffed, afk, fighting, incapped, getting married whatever. Use bomb droids ranged acc food to cut through thier aura and take em out quick. Use a rifle for damage and a pistol to apply states. You just have to be ready for them to do something wrong. And if you make a mistake and underestimate his ability you have moves to control the fight and get away.

Now boss marks. Ive never lost. Just figure out what type of damage they are doing and equip the appropriate armor. Keep stims and ruby bliel handy. Attack until your out of action and use concussion shot to regen action. Repeat. Just make sure to keep em blind and use low blow. Now granted....on 35k marks I go through around 20 stims and a stack of ruby bliel. 15 minute + fights.

I'm a MBH/Master Smuggler/Pistoleer 0,0,0,3 and have no problems. The key to being a Bounty Hunter is gear and preparation. So many people talk about struggling against the boss marks, while I stand toe to toe with them and level them. I have been successful by spending millions on the best weapons, armor and foods. With those things in place you can achieve great things.

I'm loving it. The key to taking down jedi is truly timing and just fooling your mark. For instance:

Took a jedi bounty, noticed he was on Corellia. Upon landing, I notice that the mark is up around the Rebel Hideout. Activate my POI, and sure enough, right there. So I start heading that way, thinking of how I was going to play it out.

I get about 2k from the Hideout when: "You mark is no longer on this planet". Hmm...Is there a ship terminal there? I guess there is. So, he's doing space missions out of the hideout...perfect /evilgrin.

I show up, and the first thing I do is buy enough rebel FP to go rebel (being neutral is nice). One reason I do this is to not look so out of place. The second reason I do this is in case he runs into the hideout. Then I don on my "Novice Politician" tag.

A few minutes later he shows up. I run up to him, and kindly wait until he loads in. He turns to look at me, then obviously sees me as no threat, then begins to mosey the other way, not bothering to start any macros or anything.

KD, Bleed, Crit.....DB /bow - 225k payout.

Run to the recruiter (10m away ) and resign.

Another jedi I took down, I kited her, healed (stims) kite, kite kite - never really took her down much - lulled her into a false sense of security.

Stopped kiting as she stood next me slicing me up (so that there is no incap slide when I land my fatal blow). As soon as I got down to about 50 health - Last Ditch. Landed and hit for 2600 - DB - 221k payout.

Like I've always said. It's all about *how* you play your chosen template. No one template will be better than the next.

Hey all, thanks for all the postings. You guys seem to have a lot of fun with the template, so I will continue to follow this path. As my goal is more to be able to have fun, than to be the best pvp-template, I feel it will suit me well. From a role-plating perspective, I think they fit quite well too!

So the tips were great, if there are more, please post them!

Cheers,

If you really want a laugh try Smuggler with some Carbineer and Rifles. At one time I would charge shot to imp concussion shot then drop down and let go with a imp sniper shot while they were mez KDed. Works nicely with a rocket launcher and commando too. You can mez and KD at once like that.

I did a respec to MBH / M Smuggler / medic 0020 yesterday myself. Ran about6 missions, of which4 were elite class and two were double elite / 32k Health marks. Are these the "boss" marks? If so, they weren't really all that hard, just took a long time to kill. I was Msmuggler / TKM / swords0040 / novice medic before, and I got used to killing Krayts with that template. I used Accaragram, Crispic, Citros Snow Cake, Booster Blue, and my trusty Med / combat / repair Droid. With the med droid+ snow cake + healing eff +19 bio shirt, I could heal for around 1200. That was easiliy enough for PvE marks, but I doubt it'd get the job done for Jedi.

I found that with this template, just make sure and keep the mark stated with eye shot, confusion shot, and low blow and it's just a matter of time until you win. Low blow, even though the duration is rather short, cuts down the damage I take by a ton since it slows attack speed. Toss in the occasional KD and critical shots when you have the action. Also, if you are having problems getting states to land, toss in an Overwelming shot. If you need a few seconds to catch up on heals, concussion shot and ESC out so you don't break the mezz. Heal up, then back to fighting.

Overall, I'd say that pistols kind of bite for damage compared to my old template of TKM / Msmuggler / swords 0040, but I'm having more fun doing marks and getting some pretty decent loot to go along with it. For now I'm just using my old non-enhanced Renegade pistol with a 10% speed slice. I'd use a rifle or carb, but my defense and speed would take a dive. Maybe if I cough up the cash for a good damage capped / low SAC pistol and slap a speed / crit slice on it, things won't be so bad.

I even took down some Black Sun guys I ran across on Yavin 4 after doing a mark there. I was never able to solo them with my old template because of the extreme damage they did when in melee mode.

As a side note, I'm also getting more slicing business since I'm around BH's more often instead of being out in the middle of BFE killing nightsisters, marauders, orkrayts.

Last ditch is great against NPC marks. That's also how I managed my grand total of one incap against a Jedi (unfortunately he recovered faster than I could get the DB in.) Someone in game actually recommended going MBH/Master Smuggler 0400 pistoleer to make last ditch more accurate but I haven't tried it out yet.

Great, it sounds like there is a lot of fun to be had with this template, as long as you control your specials well, and use the right buffs.I will use the grinding of the investigation tree to make sure I have good control over the template!
