Check this link out, I have been digging to find a better way to do damage to a mdef, and came up with this thought. Apparently I was right. I posted the tests ran by Summerflame below if you dont want to go to the link. This ishuge guys, an extra50 points ofdamage per shotwillhelp tons.

Okay I tested this on a testsubject wearing a 1921 PSG and a Recon amour with the following stats Kinetic 6952 Energy 4952. He has the follwoing defences +185 MElee, +205 Ranged, +50 Pistol Defence

I used the Following 2 Weapons for the test

1. Tusken Rifle (Kinetic Damage, CL 40)

Speed 2.67 (Pupped: 297)

Dam 360-887 (Capped) (Pupped: 468-995)

SAC 82

Unsliced

2. Heavy Lightning Rifle (Energy, CL 54)

Speed 2.62 (Pupped: 2.92)

Dam 500-1144 (Pupped: 651-1295)

Elemental Damage 40

SAC 82

Sliced

I tried 2 different shot on my target Ranged and Critical shot none of the critical hits did critical damage so the result should be consistant.

Heres what I found out

Ranged shot: 188 with Rifle 2, 269 with Rifle 1

Critical Shot: 344 with Rifle 2, 511 with Rifle 1

In conclusion it seems that it is indeed a good idea to get hold of a tusken Rifle if you want to pvp against people using PSG's

Im trying to get a test subject with battle armour and a jedi with PSG to make the test even more telling

Tested it again on another test subject with the following specifics:

Melee defence +130, Ranged Defence +80, Unarmed defence +75 Battle Armour 6k (both to Energy and Kinetic)

Used ranged shots an critical agian and I didnt have any critical shot so testresults should be consistant.

The result is as follows:

Ranged Shot: 221 with Rifle 2, 248 with Rifle 1

Critical Shot 415 with Rifle 2, 472 with Rifle 1

So in conclusion the Kinetic Rifle still beats the Energy one even though its 14 less in CL

Oh I might want to mention that all tests were done with the pus on to simulate a pvp situation

The trick here of course would be to open up with your energy rifle, then switch to the kinetic if you see the psg flash from getting hit.

This is a shining example of why it SO important to be versital. Having more than one or two weapons in your bag as always been a strategy of mine for this very reason. Sure we all have the +1200dmg adv laser rifles because they are cheap! My trandoshan rifle is 1303 max dmg, and fires quite well against the Jedi. However, during the course of the fight, the Jedi will usually get to within pistol range of me. If my rifle isn't performing as well as I'd hope, ie they have energy resists going for them, I will switch to my capped out Scatter or FWGS pistol and literally devestate them with it.

Nice thing is, my template doesn't say anything about pistoleer, and they aren't expecting to be hit for 400-500 from the criticals. The BEST way I found to land them, and I'm not sure if there is anything to this though... is to hit them with the 10 sec def break (forget what it's called exactly, but it drops their defenses 80 points), land a KD, and hit critcal then headshot back to back. If you land all 4 shots, it will do about 1000 to 1200 damage before they can recover and heal. The same DOES NOT work well with an energy pistol though. That will still do about 700-800dmg with that 4 shot combo (for me at least).

I am MBH/MRM, 4xx3 pistoleer with some FS skills forspeed and defense

On the armor, I think they got the energy/kenetic backwards

as for PSGs....they don't last long and then they pop. Just hit them a few times and they are not a factor.

What is a factor is being smart about what armor your opponent is wearing. If you see recon armor, it is a better idea to go with a kenetic wpn. As far as rifle go..the tuskan is not the best imo (best that can be made yes). Rather the LD-1 or the Hyper would both be better choices as they have a better max dmg.

Maybe a Tuskan with the right loot would be better, but I really imagine a lvl40 wpn is capped rather low.

Speaking of armor choices vs weapons.... I hada Jedi nail me to a cross with a FWGS. I attacked him and got him pretty well down, then he pulls out this FWGS and LAYS into me with it something fierce. Not being able to switch armor during combat is an annoying result of recent publishes and the guy actually got me down to about 1/5th health before I was able to finally DB him. It caught me off guard and that was his edge.

I was wearing 8000+ energy resist Imperial Scout armor at the time.

PSG's certainly dont pop quickly on my server. I haveone with 9500 condition, takes forever for it to drop below half. Also, if it does, its a simple matter of using cover to disengage from combat and equiping a new one. PSG's are a major factor vs full template Jedi that know what they are doing...
