Thread: Question from an Old BH

Why are missions dropped almost as soon as a jedi cloaks, Bounty "HUNTER", means hunt, chase, cat and mouse, not alpha strike while a jedi is grinding and head to head til kill or die. That play style has it's place but when I was a BH I loved studying my mark, knowing where they live where they go afk where they grind, etc etc, I would hunt for 1-2 days without even letting jedi know I was lurking. Now with the influx of respec BH all I see is bam, cloaked mission dropped, on to next. You have that right I guess but I just wanna know how many Vets who have been MBH for a long time think that studying your mark and not only getting the alpha strike attack but also catching them when they think they r safe is much more gratifying than just a head to head "forced Duel"? Maybe I see to much from a MMORPG that has very few ppl playing a role and thousands crying Nerf.

Because some of us don't want to invest 2-3 days of real life time trying to PvP one person for a 220k reward. Some of us have to actually turn a profit with the game time we have in order to support playing the profession in the first place and I can kill 20-30 NPC marksat 30k in 1/2 the time it takes to "study" and follow some Jedeye, who will stasis, cloak and FR 50% of the time after having spent all the credits, time and food waiting for the right moment to attack.

Sure, sure the "hunt" is what a BH is all about but reality does seem to infringe on my virtual world most times......

I like to do this but me being a student i have greater responsibilities then a game (Sadly )

One thing is i dont drop the mission, if he cloaks or runs into a house i'll wait as long as i can, bring a few friends down and have a party.

I agree I am an old bh since back before mounts, and I don't have allot of time to play, I work a full time job in rl, but I find stalking and watching to be fun, I hate to admit, but like everything else in this game, I have grown board hunting jedi, I have made millions, between jedi and npc missions, I guess, allot of others like the wham bam approach and thats cool if they are having fun, but I like to learn my target, then I find the fight a littlel more rewarding, since I know there template, and have developed tactics for different templates, which makes the pvp more fun, I would like to say for both of us, if they cloak, I move on no biggie to me, I am Bounty Hunter I adapt. since the game does not offer much content got to make my own

Actually the one problem with "watching" your Jedi mark nowdays is the more time you spend watching, the more they are finishing their template.

With XP so fast and easy to get in spin groups, it's a matter of days on how much more powerful they get as you watch.

On top of that, how do you all really "watch" anyone nowdays, especially a Jedi? They all assume any blue dot on the radar in their town or near their hunting group is a BH.

I don't know about other servers, but mine has such a low population the Jedi have more intel on the BH's than the BH's do on the Jedi. And it's impossible to go to a player city where your Jedi mark is and not get spotted immediatly most times and followed or challenged as to whether you are a BH or not, your bio examined, your food and buff status seen, etc.

There is no real element of suprise unless you are in a heavily poplulated NPC city, which nowdays Dantooine, MO is the only city with more than 10 toons standing around at once OR the Jedi isnt' paying attention during a grind session.

So it boils it down to the "suprise" alpha strike (at the MO) at a low health, mind or force time for the Jedi who in most cases always have enough force left to get up from that initial KD, cloak and FR....also none of the Jedi ever finsh a duel to incap or past half health in public anymore (the smart ones at least, and it seems there are very few stupid Jedi on my server).

Now I'm gettin your side, I sort of agree with most of your points, and no I didn't post this to get neg response, I just wanna know why majority of BH have become loot whores and kill crazy, I was hoping to see a larger roleplaying base out there but ./bah oh well, No time to hunt , valid point, Needing to make creds faster , also a valid point, but none of that really sounds fun to me, but thats my play style and as I do my best to respect your play style it is only fitting that you attempt to respect mine. If you do not like my play style, don't play with me move on, there is more than enough room throughout SWG for everyone to get what they want, without Nerfing or complaining about other peoples ways. Police yourself and fend for your own, no need to push your ways on others. Now I'd still like to see somemore replies from BH who hunt as I hunt and enjoy the game in a similar way. I am enjoying hearing the other side though and respect all of you either way,(except for any player BH or jedi who helps perpetuate the almighty NERF)

hehehe

I did actually try to RP a hunt on a Jedi mark one night. It was the first and only low level Jedi I have encountered so far who ran for his life and didn't come back to fight, instead ran to his house.

So I left, wandered 280 meters away and watch my droid WP. It continued to peg him as at the WP to his house.

In the meantime I started sending me tells asking how much to pay me off. I decided to RP and negotiate his life versus my employer's price, etc.

The RP negotiations went on for 5-10 minutes and the droid WP never moved as it updated, then I get the system message that says mission failed/bounty lost.

I ask him if just dueled someone (thinking a guildie killed him to stop the bounty) and he says another BH just killed him....

So I learned my lesson, if you can't kill the bounty inside the first few minutes of the attack and find him available to attack within say 30 minutes...I am just wasting time...

Lastly, I got tired of watching full temp Jedeye duel, cloak, run around public fully buffed flashing their sabers and never getting a good opportunity to strike before my buffs ran out or I got bored watching some kid talk l33t for 30 minutes as I "hunted" him...

Another excellent point...

I wish all the people who want to RP had the op to switch to non uber 1337 server, but wont happen so I just became ok with the fact that some will play, and many will not, as long as I am givin the op to enjoy myself and my style of play without prejudice then so should the uber 1337 kids I suppose

I am one of the few RPrs on my server (sadly most are l337 powergamers) and I do run an RP guild. We RP even if the marks dont. I will hold my mark for the full 3 days we are allowed by SOE now if the mark cloaks/FR3 or stasis/FR3 or otherwise runs and hides/logs. I figure my employer would not care for me dropping the job simply because the mark is a coward.

It can get aggrivating tracking and hunting a mark simply to see them cloak and run off or have one of the many exploits and or bugs kick in and cause you to lose.
