Well I'm leaving pistols behind in favor of Carbines due to the increased damage but of course this means I'll have to deal with slightly higher SAC costs. My current plan is to get a SAC capped Elite Carbine (should be around 73 SAC I believe) and use it with a damage powerup to tighten up my min-max damage ratio. Will a SAC of 73 be adequately low enough to allow reasonable usage of my attacks?

Yeah - I believe that the cap on an Elite is 73 SAC and that's what I'm going to be shooting for. What I'm asking is if I'll be able to do ok without a SAC powerup if I'm using an Elite with a SAC of 73. I know that when I was using 65 SAC Pistols I didn't have any problems with Action at all and could apply a damage powerup to my Pistol with little consequence.

i find best thing for my carbine is damage capped, SAC pupped (to take it into the low 50's) and speed & accuracy armour attachments, that way you can spam specials until your fingers bleed and still have plenty of action left.

I use rifles not carbines, but just a word of personal advice. You can't kill a jedi with a dmg pup (in a rifle atleast) but I would imagine carbines wouldn't be much different. Speed kills all. Your goal would be to have a carbine with a modded speed right in the neighborhood of 1.0...add a low SAC like 72 or something and you are in serious business. You can Alpha Strike and have a full temp dead before he can hit his heal/AI button.
