...now tell me: why should I hunt in the first place?

you shouldn't. I don't plan on wasting any more time on jedi hunts once this patch is put in place. I'll hunt npcs and let the jedi population go even more out of control. I think thats what we should do in protest. Get all the bh together on each server and stop hunting jedi all together and let SOE figure out how to control the jedi population on thier own.

Yes...you are given little information. The person placing the bounty knows only that the criminal is a Jedi and places whatever amount of money they have on hand to help entice a BH to go after this Jedi. Withthe help of the spynet, they take this minisule amount of information, do some poking aroundand point you in the general direction of this Jedi, even securing a slice of DNA from the crime sceen for you to use. You place this DNA in you droid and it searches for this DNA throughout the galexy and returns its findings to you.

You should hunt because it is your choosen job to make a living off of collecting bounties. A skilled Bounty Hunter will know when its a good idea to fight...or to flee, just like the hunted.

I tried respeccing to BH and I have nothing but praise for those who stick with it. Its a hard profession and I enjoyed the challenge. Eventually I decided to try something different and moved on.

WIth this change I don't see why any BH will bother hunting jedi. Without knowing the name or the relative level of the target its an utter crap shoot as to whether or not you find them. Anyone you want to hunt will most likely be found be on the Ryatt Trail or some other instanced location on Kashyyyk. All they need to do to be safe is log off regularly for a bit.

This is going to make the already ubiquitious Jedi, even more commonly encountered. I don't see a downside to being a Jedi at the moment. You get to be inherently stronger than anyone else, all it takes is some grinding to achieveit but the perfect afk grinding location - complete with 100% defense location spot to stand in if threatened - has been provided for you. Jedi gain enough exps on the Ryatt that being ganked repeatedly in a single day isn't enough reason to discourage them from doing it.

For those people saying this bringsa welcome 1vs1 fight, that would be fine and dandy if the odds were even, but few BHs stand much of a chance against a full jedi knight afaik, so the odds are not even. This change just means that its impossible to tell if your long pursuit is going to lead to an all-but-guaranteed loss or to someone you can fight and beat.

Its not supposed to be a fair fight when a BH meets a Jedi, its supposed to be a slaughter if the target is a padawan. The idea is to make it *hard* to become a Jedi, to discourage people from actively pursuing Knight and force them to hide while they level in secret. Instead they just openly flaunt their powers secure in the knowledge that they can beat anything they face if they are a knight, or knowing that no matter how much experience they lose to the occasional BH, they are gaining far more by grinding in a group in any case.

When i first became master bh i stuck to low level jedi for a reason... so i could perfect my skills. Now i've moved on to 150 to 190k jedis and am trying to perfect my hunting even more so i can kill 225k jedi on a regular basis. I feel for the new people who want to become a bh in the future. they will get master and the first jedi they go after will be a jedi knight and they won't know what the hell is going on. They will just see jedi as un-killable and stop hunting. This is going to really discourage ne bh from hunting jedi.

Sounds somewhat like the the paddy running in to a skill MBH BUT oh yeah, the BH has noting to lose!

overall I think these will be good changes, but like many I am a little concerned about certain aspects of this change.

1 - We should have some idea of what level mark we are accepting (initiate, padawan, knight at the very least) I tended to focus on 150K+ marks and if I hit either end of the spectrum it becomes frustrating, ie 60k missions are all but pointless, they die almost immediately with absolutely no challenege. Full template knights and I die almost immediately with no challenge lol. I like to pull missions that are a risk but where the outcome is unkown. If you hit either end of the spectrum the outcome is already known depending on which end you hit.

2 - Online status. This is a major concern where we no longer have names we can use to verify if our marks are online or not. If the terminals displayed online Jedi only this would no longer be an issue.

3 - Friend/Foe. While not a huge issue for me there are many faction based players that hunt specifically opposing faction due to the GCW. Without any information to be able to determine who is a friend or foe this is a major setback for many BH's. Also for BH's being unable to determine which marks are guildies or allied with their guild ahead of time is another major concern.

there are several other concerns which i think are relatively trivial in comparison to the above listed. If we can address the above 3 issues prior to making these changes I think that the majority of BH's and Jedi both will enjoy these changes.
