Thread: a question for the experienced pistoleer BHs

ok, i'm pretty new to the whole BH thing (and SWG on the whole for that matter), and i've gotten a lot of good pointers from a lot of good friends about the basic logistics of dueling (not to mention Skyyr's killer guide). about a week ago i broke my jedi cherry and got my first jedi kill. needless to say i was elated. i was beginning to think that all jedi were either house sitters or seasoned veterans. since then i've had a lot of good battles w/ people who are more in my leauge and have come out 3-3 with my jedi hunt record for those that i actually end up fighting. but i have a couple of quesitons for you guys.

there seem to be these situations i call "**edit** just happened" situations. things seem to be going well in the fight, i'm working him down little by little trying to wear him down so i can start dishing out the real damage, but then it happens. i donno if it's KD bug or latency or what, but i'll be at half health then a second later dead. in my system log there's 2 hits that total up over 1500 damage. so my question is this: do ALLjedi do this kind of damage or is it just guys w/ pre-CU sabers? and if so, what can be done about it? is the AB slice absolutely necessary, or can you get around it? i currently wear 8100 energy, 6000 element based ubese, but it just doesn't seem to do much good at all. i only end up absorbing at most 200 damage.i know i'm not the only guy whoencounters this, but i'm trying to figure out better strategies to combat it here on the forums.

just to give you guys an idea of what i load, let me tell you what i pack:

MBH/MPistols/CM0004

feather fgw5: min dam 389, bdps 399.1 w/ a SAC pup on it for a sac of 54 w/ pup, 67 w/o pup. acc mod of 48 (on top of the 15 on the feather fgw5)

8100EN ubese 6000 elem base

+18 healing eff bando

+16/16 def formfitting undershirt

i believe my total mods from attachments are +13 gen ranged speed, +10 bio-suppression efficiency, +12 pistol defense, +8 defense vs. blind

i eat blob, spiced tea, bofa, thundercloud, pikatta, booster blue, ruby bliel (for my 1200 stims), and i have some snow cake, synthsteak, and pyro on-hand as necessary.

so, i guess my question is: are there any key pointers you guys have to stay on top of these big baddy jedis? i'm sure there are some pistoleers out there who have taken down full-temp jedi. what's the secret? are there any key pointers you can suggest? something i should think about or watch after over and above everything else as i fight them? are there any jedi tricks or combos i need to watch out for?

another question i have: is there any way to have a better shot at landing those crucial hits like the knockdown or disarming shot? i usually try drinking pyro right before i try those combo shots (like kd, critical, disarming), and even a warning shot if i think i have time, but that doesn't seem to help much. it deals a little bit extra damage, but nothing to write home about, and it doesn't seem to affect the chances of landing the status you want at all. any pointers or suggestions on that?

i know i'm asking a lot of questions here at once, and i apologize for that. but i'm sure some of the elites out there could help me out thanks

Question - are you wearing any cybernetic arms?

Key to killing a jedi being a master pistoleer is tank as little as possible.

Also do you have no healing in your template? looks like you dont in that case i would suggest either

1.) change your template to MP/MBH/CM4XXX or MR/MBH/CMxxx4.

well, i have cm0004. i don't try to tank them at all, i kite them with electrolyte drain. as for healing, i have medic 0410 and the healing eff bando. i usually heal btw 900-1200 each bacta shot. are you saying that i shouldn't be trying to kite as a pistoleer?

and no, i don't use arms.

No definatley not tanking from start to finish. Your mind will run out way too fast unless your MCM or MDOC. Use root as much as possible, move away from them, keep them snared then when they get close use kd, and hopefully root will be charged again, If your root misses use your Exo or synthesteak, and get some STIM-D for backup heals.

my 2 cents get ab sliced 4 SURE get cm 4000 +25 in healing eff( bio aa ca ) use spray enhancers toss enhancers requires us the player to try to fix with a half ass macro cuz soe hasnt yet, so its tricky 1100 -1200 enhancers cary a assort of pistols try see what works best for u , u get hit 700s -1200s run all ull do is heal till out of mind that power is unbalanced still

That's great ubese, but youneed that AB slice. Even a low level paddy can do that kind of damage once they have AB on you. Heck, the pre-CU MLS guys will hit you for 1k or better with just 1 hit. Spend the credits for the shock absorbant padding... you won't regret it.

seems to me that a lot of people are saying go CM4000, but i'm not sure i understand why. with CM4000 you'll get hit more, so should heal more, but with my temp i'll get hit less. i dunno, i guess i can envision a lot more going wrong when jedi are able to throw on force run anytime they want. for instance the other day i had a great fight with this one jedi that lasted something like 15min. i had him down to about 2 hits away, but wasn't paying close enough attention to my snare timers, and he popped on force run and cloak and got away. i can't see a cm4000 being able to combat that like cm0004 could.

I am an MBH / MP / CM4xxx. I use a SAC PuP'd double-capped Featherweight FWG5. From clothing and attachments, I have +25 in Pistol Accuracy, General Ranged Accuracy, Pistol Speed, General Ranged Speed, Pistol Defense, Melee Defense (not applicable since I weird a ranged weapon), Ranged Defense, Fire Resistance and Healing Efficiency. I wear a full suit of ADK'd Tantel recon armor. In combat I use a probot droid that has +110 medical and +25 auto-heal capability. When I fight Jedi, I don't move unless I need to catch up with a moving target. Not kiting does wonders on being able to watch your HAM bar and buffs/debuffs. Use Intimidate consistently. Use Duelist Stance consistenly. Use Torso Shot consistently to keep a DoT going. Use your probot to add another (virtual) DoT going. If he takes out your droid, use a Droid Stim D on it and keep it attacking. The time it takes the Jedi to kill your droid is more time for you to attack (or rest for Action). Used a pistol with a damage PuP and a high minimum damage value to spam Ranged Shot if you need to rebuild your Action. The foods you've selected are good.

For me, the most important thing I learned with this template is not to move. Tank. Use your specials and equipment to allow you to tank. Being able to concentrate on my HAM bar and buffs/debuffs was way more beneficial than maybe, kinda, sort of evading a few attacks here and there by kiting.

I guess that I would add that I use KD regularly too. When I do, that's the only time I move. I just move 35m out so they have to come to me. I save Stopping Shot for those that run. I also keep an Blackhand Annihilator pistol handy as well because it has a 60m range. Useful for getting a long-range Stopping Shot (root) or Underhand Shot (knockdown) on fleeing Jedi.
