Thread: 30minutes of fun!
Another interesting story.... I'll remove names to protect the other parties in the general area...
So there I was, late last night BH'ing out of Kaadara as usual. Seems this is the HUB of all BH'ing in the free world now-a-days. Looking for a easy score after a depressing night of PVP, I took a contract for a lower level Jedi. A 76k'er named "Ricko HAF" of the Rebellion. Not ever hearing of his name before I discovered his online status, I set off to Dantooine to asassinate this abomination.
I arrived in The Agro Oupost as normal, fooded up and noticed the mark was about 1200m from the spaceport. Not believeing my good luck I set out to fulfill my contract. Upon entering the 500m mark, I dumped my bike and walked the rest of the way in. First, I noticed 2 things, this Jedi wasn't alone, and 2nd he had ZERO pre Jedi ranged ability. This Ricko HAF was a pre Padawan melee stacker. With a large grin, I pulled my bike back out (in case) and left it secreted just out of the mark's radar range.
I covered and crawled about 50m into visual range and watched this mark for a few minutes. I noticed nothing out of the ordinary for a 76k mark, save his utter inability to take damage well. Nothing interesting to report of the initiall exchange of fire, save that all of his group mates were cheering ME on, which is decidedly a nice change.
The non-sense arose next which made this "fight" if you could call it that, last another 30minutes. A friend in an AB-1 landspeeder swooped in and picked up my mark! Not taking "I'm exploiting away" for an answer, I quickly KD'd Ricko HAF out of the speeder. I had this mark down to about 10% health at the point when his KD faded.... the same friend pulled up full speed, picked up the helpless Jedi and made flank speed to a lake. Quickly judging that they'd lose me on a foot vs landspeeder pursuit, I did the only thing I could. Having a bike 150m in the opposite direction from their flight path, I was no left no choice but to burst after them, and re-pull my bike. After 28 grueling seconds and 10 "hahaha, I gota way. You suck BH tells" My bike popped out. I dropped another tracking droid and made for the general direction they took.
This is where knowing the layout of the land prior to making yourself known comes in handy. I knew previously that there was a lake in the vicinity, and that was the likeliest place to hide. While my BH droid was looking for the mark, I made for the lake. At the same moment I made contact visually, my BH droid reported their location to be about 120m at the 12 o'clock.
Very shrewd thinking on the lake idea.... however it was a poor selection for a lake. This particular lake on Dantooine is only waste deep in most sections. When I caught up with the mark, an violent exchange of words accosted me from the Ricko and his friends. However, I was able to /dismount and KD him right out of his precious chariot. I was able to incap the mark on this encounter, but I was too far away to DB before he recovered. The water in this area is rather bugging, despite maintaining a standing position, I was not able to fire in certain areas.
So this went on for the next 20 minutes. The strategy of my opposition consisted of: rather pathetically trying to hit me with what I assume was a toy lightsaber by the low damage output and then a friend picking him up. All the while me, blasting away, or trying to get to a position where the water bug would acutally allow me to fire. I actually incapped this mark 4 times over the 30 period, the 4th being his death incap.
All in all, while it WAS a huge exploit for the friend to keep driving this Jedi around and away from me to heal. But it WAS a good fight. Had this happened on land and stayed there, it would have been over in 1-2 minutes tops and we'd all walk way feeling rather ho-hum about it. The fact that it lasted 30 minutes is a testement to this Jedi's resourcefulness, if not outright great strategy, even thought it's considered an exploit.
I look forward to huntng Ricko HAF again, and you should too!
To you BH's who where there last night cheering me on, thanks for the support.
