Thread: Investigation Grind post cu
The second box will speed up your droids quite a bit without making the missions any harder. It will also reduce the number of droids that explode in space or are eaten by space slugs. The marks can be quite tough if you dont already have a combat profession, if needs be take a friend.
Bases aren't a realistic option solo any more at inv2now that you can't get a 2850 buff, put on 80% composite, run in a base, jam uplink, run out to next base rinse repeat. It is actually quicker and easier to do the NPC grind post CU, believe it or not. (A base would give you 1000xp, at inv2 NPCs will give about 450 xp or so)
Yeah, I did my grind pre-CU as well. Not sure if you should or not. It may be kind of hard to find anyone that ground out investigation post-CU that didn't just respec into it, I think.
Sorry I couldn't be more help. ![]()
Yes pre CU you needed to bank it ....since the missions was way harder at inv II....but now missions at Inv I is very hard (moving target in the middle of dathomir etc). Im CL54 perhaps thats the problem..... Well ill problaby just respec it with token reward.... I was just wondering what everybody else did....

Drfoucault wrote:Hi ive been bh before and on my new toon I want a mbh aswell.....Ive begun my investigation grind, but it seems very very harder than precu. Droids are inaccurate, exploding etc. Im at inv I, and it seems to be very difficult (getting marks on Dath etc etc). Anyone have any tips? Shall I still bank investigation xp for the third box and skip the second like pre cu?Please helpregards
Well, at the sake of sounding like the "old man" I am.....
I ground out the Investigation tree shortly after beta. There were no land vehicles. There were no personal space craft. Star ports/shuttles were the means of travel, and they were a wait of 10 minutes. Bounty Hunter marks were extremely buggy - about 60 to 70% of the time they simply wouldn't spawn. Investigation experience per mission was much less than it is now.
So in my "old-timer" opinion, you guys got it easy.
Just a couple general tips for ya though:
Investigation 1 is just that. Its a neophyte skill. You are still "wet behind the ears" when the Bounty Hunter Guild considers your tracking skills, so your control of droids leaves much to be desired. As you go up in investigation, short-lived droids, exploding droids, etc, are virtually non-existant.
If you get a mission that tells you your mark is on a rather difficult planet (you pointed out Dathomir), delete the mission and take a new one. The time you spend getting a new mission will be more beneficial than all the trouble you will go through hunting down your mark on a planet you have trouble with.
When you get the ability to send out multiple seeker droids to track your mark on a planet, then do so. If one is remarkably short-lived and stops tracking, chances are the others will not be. Cover your bases.
Kadaara is a great place to be if you are a neutral or Imperial Bounty hunter. The terminals are right by the Starport, all of your informants are right by the starport, and the starport is right by the outskirts of the city which allows you to send out a probe droid is relatively little time. The bank, cloning center, hospital, and a shuttle port, are all surrounding the bounty hunter terminals there as well.
Hmmm....did I tell you about how we old-timers had to trudge through the snow...uphill...to get to our Imperial colleges long ago? With little more than a threadbare Imperial uniform? None of these fancy dancy landspeeders we have now...no sireee, sonny.....
I was helping a new BH whose droid was eaten by a Space Slug, but it never happened to me when I did BH with my primary account.
Now I'm grinding a second toon to BH (and considering shifting my main with respec) and had a very frustrating first day. The first target was in the upper left corner of Corellia past the Rebel base, and the next 3 were in the ocean. Finally on the 5th mission I got one near Doaba Guerfel, which was (thankfully) at around the CL the mission difficulty said it should be.
