seriously folks, i think we should push to get player bounties on everyone. there will be no more death penalties and no xp loss for jedi on death/clone so why not.

there can be two systems in place, the first generated by the game itself can use faciton rank. people with faction capped on the negative can have a % chance of a bounty being place on them by that group. say you have -5000 hutt faction, let there be some chance that a bounty will be place on you.

as for those that want players to be able to place bounties on other players... i don't particularly think it is a great idea but it can be done and avoid griefing. if only one player can place a bounty on another player at a given time and once a bounty has either been collected or times out another cannot be place by anyone for a certain amount of time griefing could be really reduced.

in either case, game generated or player generated have the bounty last on the terms for say 3 days (just like they do now) then have a down time of say 1 week where no new bounties can be placed.

with no decay on items due to death/clone and no xp loss i see no reason why we can't have player bounties. there is nothing to fear or loose, just some random pvp that everyone can enjoy.

who else thinks could be a good idea?

Not everyone enjoys random PvP.

see, thats just it, i really don't loose cause i never really hunted players to begin with (i've only ever killed 5 jedi in the 1.5 years i've been a bh). i just think now that there is no downside to being hunted it, player bounties should be extended to all players (as it might actually give me a reason to hunt players at all).

the people that really loose are jedi. with no frs and no being hunted by bh then there is no reason for jedi to ever get their 1.5x the power of a regular player. you were supposed to get the extra power b/c of the risk and how hard it is to become a jedi. with FS being a starting prof and no downsides to being a jedi the logic behind extra power is gone.

The forced PvP system is much more of an inconvenience than anything. Sure, to the BH it's content, but to the Jedi in middle of mission/quest it's REALLY annoying.

I've been interupted numerous times helping people with vital missions including Mellichae. If I want to PvP, I'll choose to PvP. It used to be nice, but the frequency and timing of attacks was killing it.

but you still miss the point. If you don't want to worry about pvp while you're questing, use your other toon, that's why you have it. I have never been able to understand this 'forced pvp' rationale some jedi players have. Choosing to play a jedi in this game and then complaining about being hunted is akin to choosing to join an all pvp server in other mmorpgs and complaining about having to pvp all the time.

Of course it's all moot now, carebears win.

Have we all forgotten the "No penalty, no reward" maxim?

If player X kills player Y, and player Y has no ill-effects from the death, and player X collects a bounty/reward for doing it, whats to stop player X from killing player Y over and over, simply sharing the reward with him, farming credits for both of them?

I suppose you could take the bounty/reward out of the equation, but then its not really bounty hunting anymore, is it?

there was a dev post a week or so back about being able to steal object from other players. these objects will be part of pvp missions / quests. like player a is to deliver the object to talus, and player b is to kill them and take the object and deliver it somewhere else. that wil take the place of bounties, and will be a fully opt-in consensual system.

never again will you be able to force someone to pvp who does not want to (and it's about DA(*& time)

i didn't forget about that. if they every did put player bounties back in then they would have to ensure that:

  1. there is a very small chance that you will end up on the terms when the calculation is made.

  2. the system remains as it is now where bh cannot get the name of their mark until they are within 1000m and use the Identify Target option

  3. missions only stay on the terms for 3 days (as is now) and once either timed out or mission completed you cannot get on the terms again for a relatively long time (1 week or more)

this would really preventgriefing as there would be no way to be sure who you are hunting until you are basically on top of them. as for the money exploit there really is no way to totally get rid of it. even if there was xp loss that still doesn't stop people from splitting the cash. as it is right now a full temp jedi and their bh friend can do that b/c why would the jedi care if they lost xp?
