Thread: PROPOSAL: Enhance Jedi vs. BH Gameplay -- Reward Jedi and Penalize BH's for defeat
HAN: What's that? I know that laugh.
The curtain on the far side of the alcove opens, revealing Jabba the Hutt, surrounded by Bib and other aliens. He laughs again, and his gross cronies join in a cacophony of alien glee.
HAN: Hey, Jabba. Look, Jabba, I was just on my way to pay you back, but I got a little sidetracked. It's not my fault.
Jabba laughs.
JABBA: It's too late for that, Solo. You may have been a good smuggler, but now you're Bantha fodder.
HAN: Look...
JABBA: Take him away!
The guards grab Han and start to lead him away.
HAN: Jabba... I'll pay you triple! You're throwing away a fortune here. Don't be a fool!
Every bounty hunter will have an attribute called "Bounty Debt". If a BH is defeated by a Jedi mark, the Jedi receives the entire bounty reward (226k for instance) that the BH would have collected. In return the BH would have to pay back that money (as a safeguard against exploiting for cash) through the "bonus" that the Bounty Hunter's Guild pays in any future successful mission. So, if the BH is in bounty debt and he kills a Jedi, he first receives the amount of the bounty reward listed on the terminals (50k-ish credits), but the bonus the Bounty Hunter Guild pays him (Usually around 175k-ish credits) will go towards his bounty debt if he is in debt. He will have to kill other Jedi to dig himself out of bounty debt to receive full bounty reward in the future. If the BH is in debt and a Jedi defeats him, the Jedi will only get paid 50k-ish credits, and the 50k-ish credits will be applied to the BH's BH Debt. Also, if the BH is in bounty debt then he will only loot melons from NPC marks until he is out of debt -- this will give a BH incentive to NOT go into debt.
Upon defeat bya Jedi, the BH will earn visibility, and thus will be put on the bounty hunter terminals to be hunted by other bounty hunters if visibility is high enough.
There is already a system to keep track of debuffs/buffs for prolonged periods of times (e.g., health buff crystals and holocrons). If a BH loses to a Jedi, then he will be maimed (think: Anakin with his limbs cut off) for 24 hours. The BH will have a 24 hour debuff (-10% to firing speed, -10% to movement speed, -10% to accuracy) applied to him. If a BH dies to a Jedi again during that 24 hour period, the timer will reset again. Also, this serves a dual purpose of marking the BH with a "mark of shame", since the "Maimed by a Jedi" debuff icon will appear under his health bar -- for all to see how much of a failure he was.

Jedi: Population Controls
Whenever a Jedi or a group Jedi shows off their powers or use a lightsaber in a NPC city a message will be sent to the Emperor's Jedi Hunters (by way of Imperial Spynet) who will land just outside of town. The JH's will be high LVL CL's (300+), with at least 5 hunters landing at one time. The JH's should be nearly impossible to beat, to prevent farming for xp and loot. If a group of Jedi due manage to kill one of the JH's, then 5 more will shuttle in to back up the original 4 (9 JH's in all). The point being is to run like hell when the 1st shuttle lands. Also, the JH's should not hit like a DJM or Necrosis (1 hit kills) to give lower Jedi a chance to run for safety. For those Jedi that stay away from cities, but still want a challenge by gaining vis, the Emperor will send one of his Jedi Assassins to take the Jedi out quietly. JA's would work like the old Jedi/BH system. (only the Jedi and the JA will be able to attack each other) This would also give more variety to the Jedi community, since some JA's will do melee damage, will do ranged damage, and some will use the force and lightsabers. JA's should be difficult, but not as hard as the JH's. This would be the Jedi's chance to get high lvl loot (please be at least quality crystals with the ability to get quality tunes). The Jedi Assassins should be strong enough to make most Jedi run for the hills. For those Jedi that choose to stand and fight and die, they should get the xp lose equal to or more than a BH death. (to make a Jedi think twice about fighting)
Bounty Hunters: NPC Bounties
BH's should have more high end Boss Bounties and rare Jedi NPC bounties. These bounties should behave as close to players as possible. (run, heal, db, etc...) I don't know much about the BH system, but I do know that there are some things lacking in the game, like the number one BH in the galaxy. There should be a system installed to instill competition among the BH's where NPC and player bounties would count towards a ranking system. Also, there should be live events where the Empire/Rebellion/Jabba offer large bounties for NPC's, where BH's of a certain ranking can participate and compete against other BH's to capture the mark the fastest (alive) and bring them to a certain location. Other Bounty Hunters will be able to attack and steal the mark from the first BH.
Jedi: Dealing with Bounty Hunters
For Jedi that don't mind the occasional BH attack and likes to PVP, they should have an opportunity to do so. For BH bounties, the Jedi should attack one of the various gangs in the game (Jabba, Lady Valerian*, Maulers, Nym's, etc…) and get on their $h1t list. All Jedi should have their faction standings (beside Reb/IMP faction) set to zero once they become padawans. Then when a Jedi reaches -5000 faction points for a certain group that group will place a bounty on the Jedi's head. If the BH kills the Jedi, then the Jedi's faction for that group is reset to zero. To encourage more Jedi to get on the BH terms, the xp loss acquired at death should be lowered (not erased), because the Jedi can be on multiple terms (-5000 Jabba, -5000 Nym's, -5000 Borvo), the Jedi always has to worry about when a JA might show up, and the Jedi has the possibility of being ganked by 3 BH's (names should be put back on the terms).
BH's: Jedi player bounties
For BH's that want to fight with player Jedi, they will need to gain positive faction points with the various gangs in the game (Jabba, Nym's, etc...). If the BH's dies during a bounty, the gang would loose confidence in the bounty hunter (faction reset to zero). The pay outs should be the same for all jedi (but more credits); since only highly skilled pvp Jedi will want to tangle with up to 3 BH's at once (back to seeing the names of the Jedi). When bounty hunters of different factions are hunting the same mark, they will tef each other to show that they are competing against each other. (a BH killed by another BH, while in the process of collecting a bounty, will received a failed mission and have faction reset to zero.)

Debt is interesting. Vis sounds fun. Maiming is a little harsh (maybe jedi get the same thing if they lose the fight; after all, Anakin is your example, and he was a jedi, not a BH). Also, doesn't make sense to pay the jedi. The client and BH guild were paying the BH, why would either one pay the jedi? And there's no Order around, so they wouldn't be paying them. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

go play KOTOR2 and it tells you
