Thread: Another Template Question: MBH, MP, CM 0004 or MBH, MCM, Pistoleer 0103...

Just trying to decide what my new build should be for my new toon on Farstar.

I had my heart set on MBH, MP and CM 4000, when someone pointed out that CM 0004 would be better. Ok, I can accept that.

However, just reading over on the Pistoleer forums, people think that Pistols cannot do enough damage to Jedi to make it worthwhile.

Is this the case??? WillI be able to deal with Jedi with Damage and SAC capped pistols (FWG's, HCSP's)???

Then, someone else has suggested MBH, MCM and Pistoleer 0103. Is this any good??? Is it begging for the Nerf Bat???

I thought I was sure on which way to go, but now I'm not. Any ideas anyone???

Pistols do lack damage capability against Jedi, however the stances branch is sweet for defense. My BH template isMBH/MCM/Pistols xxx4.I like yoursuggestion for Pistols, minebeing Pistols xxx4 however, Pistols x1x3 will still give you Improved Stopping Shot (root) and +10 to General Ranged Accuracy. Now, as General Ranged Accuracy is a lower figure when compared to defense you will probably gain more from an accuracy mod than the additional defense mods (+10 to both Melee and Ranged defense). Also you won't have access to the Quickdraw title, which I'm sure you can live without

My preference of main weapon is mbhso hcsp are v nice, especially if you can get one Krayt enhanced. A proton carbine is a v nice mbh weapon. The damage caused to a Jedi depends on several things, Jedi template/saber, weapon quality, skill sets, food and drink etc... So I would just find the best there is on your server for mbh. A featherweight fwg 5 is v nice also but I have more success with the mbh range of weapons.

Not sure about the nerf bat though, if a good mcm is fighting a Jedi the fight usually lasts a while, and the longer the fight goes on the advantage swings to the mcm as the Jedi will be getting low on force. As a mcm is a support profession it'salways going to be strong, it has to be, but nerfs are always a worry, but then again they are with any profession.

I am having these same pains in template and here is what I am doing right now. It is a work in progress.

Right now I am MBH MP CM 13xx and I am getting a lot better damage than I was CM 4xxx. I replaced my shirt and bando from melee/range defence to healing +18 and I am getting the same bacta shot heals as you can get with CM 3xxx. Healing Attachments are much better at producing visible results than any other attachment that I have tried. Attachments can bascially replace the entire CM 4xxx line very effectively. You will of course not get the AI heal and the self rooting heal that comes with CM4xxx but you dont really need it.

I intend to move on to the CM x4x4 soon that will require me to drop MP. Not sure how I am going to like doing that.

The Dot line has CM x3xx has finally made it so I can make a MDef sweat a little bit. I have yet to deafeat one but Ive only had 2 or 3 fights since moving from CM 4XXX to CM 13XX. Im also collecting the CM bio warefare attachments as I can find them.

I think it is wrong that MPistols an elite proffession cannot stand on its own though in Jedi PvP. I think this is something SOE needs to tweak a little.

I think Good PvPers playing Jedi defenders, should rarely if ever be defeated by a equal pvper BH, but not every MDef Jedi should be able to defeat every Good BH either.

In other words I think Jedi should be the most powerfull proffession in the game but when It comes to PvP the person playing it should still have to be on his/her toes in order to win. It should not be something you can set up a macro and win every time for Jedi vs a double master combat professions.

I agree with Xevin, the best I expect is a draw between complete Jedi templates and my bh template. We all have our personal fav templates and play styles and choosing a template is very much a personal choice. Pistoleer, imo, should be devastating at short range if you catch your enemy off guard but it isn't which is a shame but there are some great skills in Pistoleer that you can dabble in.

I tried MBH/MP/CM4xxx and found that I can stand in battle for while with the high heals, but could not do enough damage. Eventually, my mind wore out, action etc and then it was just a slow death.

Tried MBH/MP/CMxxx4 and I couldn't hang very long at all due to lack of healing capability.

I changed to MBH/Pistols 0304/CM 4404 and damage ouputis now significant due to dots and states and I canhang with the heals..

The pistols still don't do enough damage..they are good pistols but Jedistill seem to soak up enough kinetic and or energy damage so thatthe only real use for the pistol is KD and roots...

This is all based off fighting full template Jedi's.

/sigh

You guys are killing me. That was my template before I unlocked. I never lost to a mark with it.

Here are some tips:

Get a featherweigth with capped dmg and Capped SAC. Mine also has 61 Acc Bonus.
Get Energy Layered Recon Armor Break Sliced.
Buy:
Get either a DMG PUP or SAC PUP.
Booster Blue
Spiced Tea
Blob Candy
Bofa Treats
Vegeparsine
Crispic
Synth Steak
Ruby Biel
Parawin Cake (Mine have a 102% Reuse time.
Stim Ds (Just a Hint go to the Janta POI on DANT and farm them for Janta Blood)
Madalorian Wine
+16 Melee/Ranged Defense Shirt

Go do some NPC BH Missions and get Pistol SEAs (Or sell/trade the tapes you do get so you can get pistol tapes)

DO NOT USE AN AUTO ATTACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you have a Health Buff crystal use it.

STALK YOUR MARK!!!!!!!!!! catch them off guard. Either grinding or PvPing.

Don't be dumb and KD a jedi that is rooted. You have a TANK/Crowd Control template.
Use you KD after Root breaks when they start to close into Melee Range. Always follow a KD with ADV Crit. Your 2 most powerful attacks are ADV Crit and Torso Shot.

Blind them with Eye Shot.

YOUR ARE NOT TRYING TO WEAR THEIR HAM DOWN YOUR TRYING TO DRAIN THEIR FORCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some of them may get away. After they get low on force.

Your absolute worthest template to hunt is MLS/MDefender. You will never do enough dmg to make them heal. And they can pretty much leave anytime they want. If you don't believe me ask Stecoli what happened when he went after me in Theed. Snare+ KD + 102% Reuse Parawin Cake = I'm leaving.
