Thread: NPC mark not on waypoint and droid keeps returning the same one? ***Solution***

NOTE: This solution applies to NPC cities ONLY.

Say you're running a mission. Your arakyd droid reports the planet, you go to the planet. Then you launch a seeker droid, and wait for the waypoint to update.

The mark appears to be in an NPC city, so you shuttle/fly/drive there.

However, even though the tracking droid keeps on updating the waypoint, there is an "a commoner" sitting right at the spot where the NPC mark is supposed to be.

What to do next?

SOLUTION:

- DO NOT DESTROY THE MISSION! THE MARK IS VERY CLOSE, IN A 300m PERIMETER.

- If you want, use /target within a 50 meter perimeter around the waypoint.

- You can also see from the overhead map a yellow dot (but when the overhead map is zoomed out enough, white and yellow marks are hard to tell apart)

- You can waste another Seeker Droid by using the IDENTIFY option instead of the TRACK option (thanks to Jasim_RC for the suggestion).

- OR you can go to the location, where in such cases, the NPC mark is 100% located.

I have seen this multiple times. In the case where NPC marks spawn in certain NPC cities (not all), they are not at the location they are supposed to be, but instead at a specific location IN that NPC city.

(This might be different from server to server, but at least on Eclipse, there are some WPs I've found):

- Deeja Peak on Naboo: If the mark is not where it's supposed to be, it is definitely right next to the bridge on which a scout trooper is standing (Deeja Peak is an Imperial Stronghold City and is Imperial across all galaxies). (Waypoint: 5050 -1525)

---OR---

If the waypoint is right next to those stairs I'm talking about (Waypoint: 5050 -1525), and there's only "a commoner" standing there, go up the stairs and directly to the big square right in front (the biggest square of Deeja Peaks), the mark is there.

I will try to get waypoints the next time I see the same thing happening on Deeja Peaks. However, not only did both cases happen to me twice, I have seen two NPC marks spawn on top of each other (two with different names), where one was my mark, and the other was someone else's (who got killed).

These marks seem to be double gold chevron boss marks at all times for MBHs.

- Tyrena on Corellia: If the mark is not where it's supposed to be (usually this waypoint spawns right on top of the "a commoner" standing next to the main park in front of the starport, right next to the tall buildings and some other mission giving NPCs), then the mark is DEFINITELY at this waypoint (or in the 5 meter perimeter): (Waypoint -2500 -5200)

This happened to me twice, too. These marks seem to be silver chevron elite marks at all times for MBHs.

- Dathomir Science Outpost: The NPC mark is DEFINITELY within the outpost somewhere (mostly right behind the mission terminals) even if the waypoint is just generally pointing towards the exit of the starport room (where you purchase the tickets). This happened once to me, and once to a friend.

- Bestine on Tatooine: The waypoint updates constantly on "a commoner" right behind the city hall (Waypoint: -1066 -3668). In this case, the mark is ALL THE WAY to the other side of Bestine. This happened to me once, and I couldn't find the mark, but a friend found it for me but couldn't get the waypoint.

- Nashal on Talus: The waypoint might always update in the river, right next to the bridge at the exit of the starport. If this is the case, the mark MIGHT be there, swimming in the water. If not, wait for 5 minutes and the mark will jump. This is a special case, as I have twice found my mark in the water (right on the waypoint, and it doesn't give a "Mission Incomplete"), and three times the mark jumped away but the waypoint was at the spot where I've found my mark before.

- Bela Vistal on Corellia: Corellia seems to be a hot spot for these kinds of marks. The waypoint would probably update RIGHT in front of the Hotel in this city, but the mark is actually on the hill right in the middle of the city (Waypoint: 6788 -5654).

- Mos Eisley on Tatooine: If the mark's WP keeps flashing at the south-west corner of the city (the slums, at the back of the cloning facility IIRC), the mark is right in front of the Lucky Despot (Waypoint: 3390 -4700).

REMARKS:

1) It seems like on NPC cities, the spawnpoints are pretty much fixed, whereas the waypoints just generally point to a central area on the city instead of the BH mark itself.

2) When I stored a waypoint right when I was on the mission waypoint, the one that showed in my datapad was RIGHT where the mark was on. Proven to be not the case every time.

If you come across the same thing, please post it here.

The condition is that;

  1. The waypoint should always be updating on the same spot, but the mark shouldn't be there.

  2. The waypoint must be within the borders of an NPC city.

  3. The mark must be within the borders of the same NPC city.

Hope this helps!

Thank you

After seeing this pattern the last time it happened on Deeja Peak, and just right now when it happened the second time on Tyrena, I decided to list the waypoints.

I just went to Bestine to grab some waypoints, and doing the same for Deeja Peak now.

Very true.... However, when I get to the waypoint and can't 'find' my mark I just use /target {marks name} and I find him that way.

Another way I found when I ran into this situation is to tell your seeker droid to "identify" your mark rather than "track" him/her and either the correct waypoint will pop up, or you can zoom out on your radar and locate him as a yellow dot within the 300m perimeter.

In Bestine, Deeja Peak and Tyrena, you can't find the target by tabbing (at least I couldn't) unless you run around for about 50 meters around the waypoint.

Targeting the name won't work neither in such a case, as the mark would be outside your range. If you find the mark by targeting, then you're lucky, as you're standing away towards the right direction from the waypoint.

And true, you can launch another seeker droid and just use identify, instead of track, but I know many people who already use like 3 seeker droids and get the same waypoint updated all the time

But I'll add this as a workaround in the main post.

The best thing to do is make a target macro. It is very simple to make and can look like this:

Macro: Target

/target <mark's name>;

/macro target

One thing to remember if you use this marco, if you use Bacta Toss Enhancers, the macro wont let you target yourself to use them. So you will need to do a /dump to stop the macro.

Just drive around on your speeder with the macro running and eventually the macro will pick up your mark. When BH required Master Scout, another good way to find them was pick up the Tracking line in Ranger. It worked alot better out in the wild and wasnt as effective in cities.

Don't you have to change the macro and instert the mark's name every time you do a BH mission, though? I'd think that would add even more time lost, considering one mission takes 10-15 minutes.

Takes me about 15 seconds to update my macro. Immediately after accepting my mission, I open my Datapad and my Actions windows, click on the Macros tab, highlight my Targeting macro, choose edit, highlight the BH mission on the datapad, input new name in macro, click OK for the macro, close all windows, run Targeting macro from toolbar. Then go get the bio-sig and hunt.

Ran two missions last night and had this issue on Dant and Dath

This is what I do.

I launch one seekerdroid and let it report until target is lost.

Then I launch another one and wait for that waypoint.

For these two mission, the second reported WP was correct and the one on Dath it tood about a min or two for the target to spawn.

I was using only tab to cycle through targets as my marks were both at SPs.

I will try the maco thing next time.

Good post and thanks.
