for novice and inestigation 1 you don't need droids. what you need to do is talk to a spynet informant. you can find a list of the informants and what level they are at the top if the forum. once you talk to him he will tell you the planet. I'd max out your investigation points before training any levels cuz you can get to investigation 3 while skipping over investigation 2. At that point you will need arkyd probe droids. once you talk to the new spynet he will give you "a bio sig". then you go outside the city and luanch the arkyd, it will land and look like a probe droid, you go and use the radial menu to program him and off he goes. He will report back later the planet, then when you get there use your seeker droids to find him.

You need to talk to an NPC called a Spynet operative, at your skill level he will give you a waypoint, go there, kill the NPC, repeat. There are Bounty Hunter terminals behind the cantina in Bestine and a spynet just in front and to the right of the cantina, that's a good place to start. Also, it's much faster to keep doing the missions and cap your xp to train investigation 1 and 2 at the same time.

wow i wish i knew about the one in bestine when i started bh, i was on corellia going to the terms in cnet and going to the guy in bel vistal, talk about spending money on tickets lol
