Thread: Looking at the bigger picture
Put in simple terms. Post Pub 20, The only risk left in the game for Jedi is XP loss, and with TEF saber on sight gone, GodClass implemented, and now Group Member visibility going as well, the only risk Jedi have left is xp loss. And.That's. It
The changes in this publish affect more than just BH and jedi...
Imagine Post-Publish 20, people on these forums say others are being too alarmist, but lets face facts here...Facts that are taken from the game right now
---Jedi AT THIS MOMENT go afk grinding in the rryatt trails because they can grind away, get vis and think the BHers cant get them.
What will happen when they gain no vis whatsoever from group members?
nearly EVERY single jedi (including the last remnants that still grind on lok and dantooine) will converge in instances, and if there's too many for an instance they will space their groups out so that they dont gain vis from other groups.
They will sit down there permanently. from padawan to master. Then they've ended the game.
And no group vis means jedi below master will barely ever get on the terminals (unless the devs have DRASTICALLY upped the amount of vis they get for just 1 non member seeing them) So it is the easiest ride from Jedi Padawan to Jedi Master ever.
The number of master jedi WILL skyrocket exponentionally because of no group member vis, and in this same patch, they take out the common BHers ability to group up and kill master jedi. So it's always 1 BH vs 1 Master Jedi.
Fair enough the BH that spends 5-10mil on a gun, a mil on armor, slices it all with lvl 3 smuggler slices (again said to be from 500k to millions now) and the right food and drink and template can give a Jedi Master a half run for their money, they are STILL alienating the other normal hunters from even having a chance of killing a jedi master, because they cant group up to kill him.
Scores of Jedi Masters *will* be about as a result of this in 4-5 months , (and unless again, the devs change the system), GCW battles will be 50-60 master jedi fighting 40-50 dark jedi, none caring if they get vis or not, and everyone else who turns up (you know, the REBELS and IMPERIAL commandos, carbineers, pikemen, swordsmen, the people thisWAR is actually ABOUT) will be a waste of time in turning up, because everything of the outcome will be always decided by the jedi there and not the other players.
If this patch had just the BH changes, fine.
If it had just the Jedi change to vis, fine.
But the two together create a world in which risk for Jedi is virtually nil now.
These changes arent a nerf to BH, they nerf the entire game because this WILL seriously affect the GCW in months to come, and after all the effort they put into the Combat Upgrade and the boost this has given to the GCW, this patch will now make GCW a dull jedi master grudge match.
And if you dont believe the patch note
- Jedi will no longer lose xp from dying
is not in the works over the next 6 months, then you're naive indeed. The devs have made their bed, they are sleeping with the Jedi. They have taken every other single risk the jedi have to the game. And on their heads be it, because when there are lots of something, they are no longer 'uber' : and Jedi Master will lose what little 'coolness' it has left, and when they get bored of being a jedi master with all the best gear and find there's little content left, they will leave. Devs made Jedi easier because they wanted more people to be them to keep them in the game longer = more cash for them. Speeding up the entire process will mean they get bored easier and leave sooner too.
This will severely unbalance the game at large, because they are messing with the only half- cap on jedi master numbers they have, us, the BHers.
I think that the game was going that way even WITHOUT pub 20! I mean, look at how many jedi are already seen in every starport. That number is just going to keep increasing anyhow, and pub20 just means that the full temp jedi no longer have any challenge from BH. Lets face it, they didn't have much challenge from us anyway, considering you had to spend about 1 hour to get 2 -3 BHers with the same mission. 5 man squads taking on a full temp jedi was virtually unheard of already, now it will be impossible.
If SOE don't take DRASTIC measures to control and reduce the jedi pop (or at least force it back into hiding!!), then the game will be dead b4 Xmas. The challenge and fun for ALL classes will have gone, the 'immersion' will be non-existant due to huge numbers of jedi dueling, fighting, etc in starports, and everybody will get bored and quit.
The padewans like things at the moment, cos they are getting an easy grind to full temp, and then they get to feel uber. But once they have got full temp, wot are they going to do with it? Where is the next challenge? Boredom will soon set in and they will leave, along with all the rest of us.
The devs MUST find smoe way of forcing the jedi pop back into hiding. Getting vis MUST bring about some sort of penalty that jedi can't accept as a reasonable risk. Whether this is simply allowing large groups of BHers to EASILY get together on one target, or if skill-loss as a result of PvP death can be intstituted, or perhaps even permadeath should come back. Bottom line is, I don't care how they do it, so long as they do it. Otherwise the game is lost.
Only have one thing to say to this, killing NPCs gets you visability whether you are grouped or not.
NPC vis is nothing compared to PC vis and you lose 7 PC vis from 24hours of afk grinding. = probably over a half to two thirds of your vis gone.
Well done, Padawan, i see you've yet to learn your own game.
Visibility:
Visibility is a measure of how active Jedi have been near NPCs & other players. As a Jedi uses their abilities in public, their Visibility increases to a point where they "get on the terms", meaning Bounty Hunters can take up a bounty mission to hunt that Jedi down.
You gain visibility by equipping a lightsaber, initiating combat with a lightsaber, and using any Jedi-related skills that consume Force power within range of other players or NPC's. You will gain a little at a time for using it in front of a few people. Do it in front of a lot of people (like in a starport) and you will almost immediately appear on the BH Terminals.
The range for visibility is 32 meters. Performing any of the above acts in front of PC/NPC’s within that range will increase your visibility.
The increase to a Jedi's Visibility Value (JVV) is determined as follows:
An opposing faction member who views this action will add the full value of the action to the Jedi Visibility Value.
ACivilian PC or non-animal NPC will increase the JVV by 50% of the action's Jedi Visibility Modifier.
A same-faction PC or non-animal NPC will increase the JVV by 25% of the action's Jedi Visibility Modifier.
Being grouped with a PC or non-animal NPC who is viewing this action has no influence on how Jedi Visibility is obtained. In other words, group members will still increase your visibility regardless.
Note that forCivilian Jedi everyone else is consideredCivilian when calculating the increase to visibility. No one is considered to be of an allied or opposing faction and will always increase the JVV by 50% of the action’s Jedi Visibility Modifier.
Visibility decays over time, taking three weeks to decay fully.
Translation: Visability will still be a factor for those jedi that aren't careful enough to avoid it. What this means is that there will be fewer jedis, who enjoy the multiplayer aspect of MMO games, on the BH terminals as long as they are careful. If they aren't generating visability, thenwho cares if they aren't on the terms?
Those jedis that show off in starports will still show up, and now you can actually stand a chance of getting their missions because they can't have their buddies pull their mission for them.

A couple things...you seem so positive onhow thefuture will be, but don't seem to even be educated on the way things are now.
1. Saying they will sit in Kash from Paddy to Master is rediculous. How will theycomplete the trials for knight, guardian, master, etc down there? I guess ya thought we cashed in xp at the village to getknight and abovein the old/new system?
2. The only risk for Jedi is XP loss? We just talking paddy's in the old system or did they send you a copy of the new trials systemsince they are turned off currently? How do you know light and dark jedi won't need to fight eachother to advance to guardian etc?
3. Grouping not giving visibility won't stop npcs from giving it.
Halfway through typing this I realized, you already know how this entire thread will end, you will most likely dislike it...so I'll just end my post and spare you the drama of reading it all and actually waiting to see how the posts after it change the thread. However you knew I was going to stop typing this post right now...sorry this is very new for me, I don't deal with supreme beings often. *bows*
