Thread: ENOUGH!
I am now of the belief that the devs do not want "my type" as a customer. "My type" refers to someone who really enjoys the game and spends countless hours playing, grinding away on their skill tree, to try and create a character that I'm happy with. From their persepctive, the $15 is the same whether you log in 2 hours a week or 4 hours a day. So, my ratio of usage to $ is much higher than some, which makes me expendable...so be it. I heartily invite a dev rebuttal to this, but the way the game is going now, it will never again be fun.
Any master level character should be powerful, but barring rapid application of stims, I can't survive 3 shots from a BH, even wearing composite. I have no defense, and am not a significant threat even though I am a master pistoleer/ranger. This is unacceptable. The devs have had every opportunity to fix the things that are broken, but instead choose to toss the balance back and forth in HUGE friggin increments. Being a geek, I know for a fact that this is not the path to happiness for you customers, irregardless of what the marketing droids are telling you. Pistoleers were overpowered as masters, and I don't disagree with that, but now we are completely worthless except as damage pumps, and we're not even remotely a threat to classes like BH who have 3 times the gun we do and who's AP1 works.
Just because I am curious Cyber - how did he take you down? What was the shot he used on you?
That was one situation in an enclosed space. One fight won or loss doesn't mean one class is better/worse.
I propose this: The commando just got fixed. Not beefed up, but repaired. We couldn't beat up a cook before this patch (lol, trust me on this one). Now that we are fixed people are kinda taken by suprise....most didnt even know we were broke. It will probaly take a week before a great strategy emerges on how to take em out pvp. personally, I think commando's should suck 1pv1p. We should be great in groups...that should be our shining scenario.
the area KD was a bug, and when you got hit by this area KD you couldnt fight till incapped and healed or cloned.
how is this fair? people need to stop whining so much because one elite profession isnt uber anymore, its like everything else now.

My primary point is that the devs are doing nothing but nerf,nerf,nerf. While I do agree with some of the "balancing" decisions, FIX STUFF! I've been in IT for about 9 years now, and the one thing that you will learn eventually in technology (and this game is technology), is that sweeping, multiple effect changes are BAD. Change something, monitor...adjust something else, monitor...rinse, repeat. The KD nerf was TOTALLY unnecesary for ANYONE. Fix the queue bug where KD would accumulate instead of reseting the timer. Adjust the KD timer or the HAM cost for the attack to make it less game-dominating, but this 30 second crap is idiotic.
And for the bounty hunter that had to get his "wah" post in, suck it up buddy, cuz you're turns coming again, and you know it.
I'm trying REALLY hard to enjoy this game. When it first came out, everyone wanted to be a Jedi...guess what...it'll probably never happen (buy a lottery ticket, mebbe you'll hit both the same time). So then, I want to be Han Solo, facing down the galaxy from behind my trusty blaster...guess what...uber nerf. So I want to be a ranger, wandering the galaxy, rounding up organic resources and generally being an outdoorsey type...guess what...maskscent is hosed and camo kits blow chunks. For an "almost unbreakable" camoflage at master ranger, I have never yet had one stay up full term. And just in case that's not enough, when it breaks, you almost always pull aggro. Isn't that just grand, to be wandering past a rancor lair and suddenly pull aggro from 2 or 3 of them. On top of that, harvested resources have dropped WAY down, expect your organics to cost more. They have completely screwed over tailors and DEs, commandos took over a month to fix. If it works, plan for it to be nerfed because it's too powerful or because "it's a bug" and was never intended to work that way. That's a weak response to something that was present in beta for how long?
Had they fixed defensive bonuses, ranged KD/posture change might not have been such a big deal among players of the same skill level. Players of uneven skill should NOT be equal. A master pistoleer vs a novice or 1st lvl BH, the BH should get OWNED. Master BH vs novice pistoleer, the pistol should be OWNED. Almost EVERYTHING in this game is tougher than we are, and most of it wants to kill us. Our weapons and skills are the only things that keep us playing, and they do nothing but take them away.
My belief is still that the devs are listening entirely too much too the marketing droids telling them how people will max everything out and get bored and leave. I'm max'd, and the only reason I'm upset is because that, while this game is supposed to be about doing what you want to do, I am continually forced out of things that I want to do because every time I find something fun, they screw it up.
My suggestion would be for commando weapons to be to have a much longer, but narror range, like really effective between 50-65m for rocket launchers and such, but flamethrowers/acid should be their up close weapons. Pistols should be uber effective up to 20-30m, dropping to 50/50 to hit, even for master, at 64m ( 180ft shot with pistol is iffy at best with today's pistols). Rifles should be uber at distance, carbine should have good all around ranges, but better at 20-30m, like an SMG. Scatter pistols are the 12 guage of the pistol world, range should be same as pistol, but accuracy should be way less. Think marksman's carefully tuned pistol to sawed off shotgun. Adjust the wepons with some thought in it, and there would be a whole lot less complaining about "balancing".
Lay off of the Commandos guys. They're just fine...and they're outdamaging me quite nicely (Bounty Hunter here). They had their pain...and now they've been fixed. Nothing more, nothing less.
