DPS means nothing. When will the community get it ![]()
The stats that matter are damage range, SAC, and speed. In that order.

i disagree, seeing that dps is calculated from teh stats speed and damage range, so the only way that dps can be a useless stat is if speed or damage is a useless stat. DPS while not giving the full picture gives a general comparison of speed and damage on a gun. The thing where dps falls is that t dosnt take into account is the defenses of the enemy, and just uses the mean of the max and min damage as a damage constant. If you are going something with high defenses the min damage is more important if you are going against something with low defenses the max damage is more important.
For the original poster, bith guns sound nice, but most important is the sac.

you need to know the sac
so the accurcay bonus doesn't mean that much?
I know with lower min dmg I will be doing a bit less dmg per shot but if I can place an extra hit every now and then because of the accurcay bonus that's an extra 500 dmg right away. Wouldn't that make sense?

Good rebutal!
An example how DPS does not work can be identified if a Jedi with Lightsaber Master were toggling SaberThrow and Powerhit compared to Leg/Body/Head hit. The later will out-damage the previous while the previous attacks will suit to stack a higher dmg rating in a sense to overwhelm a target. The saberthrow/powerhit will not out perform the leg/body/head combos.
DPS also has a great use when taking into consideration of HEals or, HPS. This is what DPS is gauged against in an effort to balance the combat system. It's been an internal system which is present in most gaming forms.
Personally, I ignore DPS on basic weapons for PvE since they truely have limited to no real application for me. I would rather hit for 1k once every 5 seconds then 200 per second and it's the same DPS.
Another problem is DPS is dependant upon "Special Attack Cost" that causes dps to break down after 5-10 attacks under most circumstances.
