Thread: Catching that Force Runner

Well unfortunately there is no simple way. I lost my Barc and my speeder trying to do this as the lag doesn't help much and they can be disabled quickly.

I will say this. Persistence is the key. If you read my last post about Force Runners you would know I ran into a Jedi that I chased for 3 hours the other day. I kept his mission because, well, he blew up my two speeders and cost me about 13 seekers and 6 arakyd droids(still the name?), and he sent me tells that I would never catch him. I don't pay for my droids since we have tons in my guild. Luckily I got my guild members to get me a vehicle repair kit as well.

So yesterday I log on and go to Dantooine as I figure he'll want to keep grinding. I send out a seeker, but the guy ends up driving past me on a x-34 as I overlook the Mining Outpost. I give chase and he runs, and runs and runs. We end up going to the island where the Jedi spawn and then on the way back he force runs and loses agro just as we were getting into the Outpost, I see him at 97m run into the room where you get to your ships. He leaves and I wait.

I decided to go to Naboo to restock on droids and speeders. Apparently it was going to bea long night again. I bought three more speeders at 10k a piece. While I'm there restocking he sends me a tell to ask if I've had enough. I laugh to myself thinking "have I had enough? this fool is running from me!" This just serves to strengthen my resolve, but besides that I'll chase him untill he's dead, because I'm stupid like that. Well he asks me to leave him alone and to go bother another padawan. I tell him "okay." and he says "really. thanks!" What a gullible Jedi!

I sent my droid out to get his planetary location and he was back at Tatooine. I thought to myself that this seemed all too familiar. I get to Mos Eisley and his waypoint is there, but my seeker droid returns and says he's not there. Well I don't send out another droid I figure he really believes I'm going to let him go. He went back to Dantooine to grind. I fly to Dantooine and send out my seeker and sure enough he's there. At the infamous city I've found most Jedi at. The one I got banned from.

I drive around and recon the area making slow circles in the city and spiraling inward to get a layout of his possible escapes. He's standing at what I assume is their guildhall since it seems a popular place for the Jedi I hunt to hang out. I get spotted twice and figure they've already told him I'm there, so I walk up to the front and stand 50m from the front door where I can see the red shield saying I can't go in. He's inside, but he's moving closer to me. His Jedi friends are standing on the steps and he comes out. 50m I drop him and hit him at range. He closes inand I see he has quite a few buffs. He knocks me down and almost gets me from the kd bug, but I barely skin it out. I try to kite and do massive damage and notice he's running now. I give chase and notice his mind is draining fast as I used the opportunity when I was kd'd to paralyze him and stick him with all my MCM states. He force runs and I hit my burst run and put away my weapon to get those extra few meters I need to catch up. I get within 48m and go to town on him again. I figure he wants to go toe to toe and he can't damage me enough even after kd'd to run me down. I want him close. that way he has a long way to go to get out of range.

I see his mind running down and he takes off again so i pop some lulris mushroom and spam my specials. I GOT HIM! This time he goes down. I close in for the DB and NICE! 220k. (he said he wasn't worth much!).

I offer to rez him for 220k since my brother suggested this....but everyone there laughed and sent me hate tells about how I was a sucky BH for going after him. Then they challenged me to duels. Maybe i'll accept and set them on fire and then end duel next time.

Anyway. My brother said they don't lose xp if they don't have to clone, but I can't confirm this. But that's why I offered and well, money is money.

So to end this. Just be persistent if you can. They'll expect you to get frustrated and drop the mission, but keep after them. You only need one mistake from them or for them to get buffed and cocky to make a win. I just want Jedi to understand that I won't give up so easily, and that if they run they're only making it harder on themselves.

Jedi lose xp only on a BH DB. Nothing else. Not cloning, not GCW PvP death, not PvE death. He lost the xp when you delivered the deathblow.

Nice story. I've had similar hunts that spanned over days because they pissed me off.

I once hunted a Jedi to a standstill on Talus. I was in the Jedi's city, he was at the cantina.... you can guess where this is going. He would run out, do his paltry damage, knocked the snot out of him, then he would run back in when the root broke.

Eventually and I can't tell if it was his alt or not... a doc shows up to buff him and laugh at me. So this Jedi runs out the door and Force Runs away. At this point a collection of his friends had shown up to laugh at me and cheer him on. One Jedi caught my attention, saying something about my skills, and my family heritage, etc. He duel requested me, so I smacked him down with a KD, sniper, critical, head combo. With my rifle.... that spelled incap. So I killed him. Then I got tells about how I must have been exploiting, whatever.

So now, a good 5-10min after the Force Runner rolled out of town, I dropped aseeker and gave chase. Turned out he was about 4k away at this point in another city, which I was banned. So when I caught up to him, he takes off AGAIN. This time I followed him closely. About 60-80m away. All the while he's sending me tells about how great he his, how great I'm not, comments about my mother, family heritage, age, etc.

I tried a few times to hit him with the max range/jump off bike/KD, but it didn't work, so his lead was gaining on me. I had decided that since the surprise was lost, all he was going to do was run. I had time.... I would wait him out. I broke chase for the closest shuttle, and receveid a tell about how "uber" he was, since I ran away from him, scared. Just smiliing, I knew I would have the fool evenetually. He logged out a few min later.

So the next day, I was out in space running some missions, and saw his name pop-up on my friendlist. I quickly landed at the closest spaceport, which was Talus. When I landed I release a probe droid, and found that he was about 7k way on Talus. I checked the map and found that he was about 1500-2000m from the closest shuttle. Knowing it was a risk, I shuttled in anyway, but in "street" clothing. Finding no one around, I went to a mission terminal pretended to get a mission, and headed off in a perpandicular direction to our runner.

When I circled the area, and attempted to engage him, he ran at the first opportunity. This time he ran inside a faction base, and sent me similar tells to the day before. Becoming more irritated with this Jedi's running and taunting I decided to wait it out. I sat in front of the base for about 15 minutes, killing the spawns figuring I would make the most out of my waiting.

Then he logged out. I figured that since he had JUST logged in on a Saturday afternoon and was only on for about 20 minutes thus far, there was a good possibility he was expecting me to leave the area and would log back in. So I hit /cover at 70m from the base door. And waited about 5 minutes, until sure enough, he logged back in. He waited a few minutes past where he should have been fully loaded, and I had him targeted. There were no macro's running. He walked out, took a look around and ran back inside, I assume waiting for a trap. So patiently waited. He came out again, pulled his AV-21 (evil grin) and proceded to take a course directly to me. He drove RIGHT over top of me, and I still had him targeted, but I guess he didn't see me. I turned around while prone and hit him with an area attack. Well... needless to say, his AV-21 popped (and this was about a month ago, so it wasn't getting fixed...)

When he fell out of the AV-21, I rooted him, he was about 30m away at this point, and had no macro's running and hit him with KD, sniper, startle, critical head, and then sniper again in about 10 seconds. He was on his back, incapped!

I walked over, and he's begging me not to kill him via tell. I smirked, did the /dies emote and hit the deathblow. Turned out he was only a 150k Jedi but still, he shouldn't have been running like that. He could have fought and possibly won, buthe didn't know that. I assume his normal mode of defense is to run so far, that the BH will move onto to prey that is more willing to scrap with them.

The moral of this story is: good things come to those who wait!

Led thats a good story of a long hunt and a good outcome but please use the return/enter key on your keybpad like bmill when you tell a story in the future, that was extremely hard to read.

Yeah... you're right! lol I was writing that, while up and down from my desk and between calls. Guess I should have proof read it before posting it. The gist was there though. Long hunt, spanned 2 days, killed the Jedi. Patience is a virtue.
