Thread: Advice on the practical usage of exo-protein wafers or synthsteak?

Hey all,

This is a question for Jedi hunting BH. In general I've been saving my food stomach space for nutricakes for burst running. However, I'm realizing that trying to kite a Jedi as a pistoleer like this just isn't useful since I have to stay within 35m (and I'm not getting the ranged arms both for stylistic reasons and because of the lack of armor) and I just get attacked routinely from 32m by the saber throw or worse.

Instead, I'm thinking that I'd like to use my food stomach for exo-protein wafers or synthsteak. My question is what experiences have people had trying to use them in a practical situation? The duration is so short that a macro seems in order. Otherwise, I'd have to remember to eat them every 20 seconds or so. On the other hand, with my other macros I always dump them to make sure I can do whatever other critical task I need (knockdown recovery, heal, etc.). So I'm not sure how to use them. Try to macro them? Or just hope that in the chaos of battle that I can remember to take them at the proper intervals? Also the stacks seem really small. With such short durations I could find myself eating up a whole stack within a couple of minutes and we all know that sometimes the battles go longer than that.

Thanks for any thoughts/advice.

I just pop a synth and hit /duelistStance whenever I'm rooted or snared. Don't have a macro. That would seem like a waste of good steak to justeat it whether I needed it or not.

I use Exo's in the event i get a KD recovery bug, which isn't all that often. I'm sure i could be utilizing them more effectivley, but i haven't needed to yet.

I pop one of these whenever i get KD...which is a lot actually. But since they r only 5 fill u can eat a lot of em.

After a blobcandy, Ahrisa, crispic and a snowcake i got plenty fill left to keep stuffing the waffers during most of the fight. This way i keep my drinkbar completeley free for ruby bliel.

I find this use of waffers very effective...which a lot of imp jedi on Intrepid can confirm

I always use exo-protein wafers whena fight is getting dangerous (when youre knocked down, or when the jedi has fully regained his action bar).

In a long fight I use about 15 uses of exo-protein. If you're worried about taking up to much space in your main toolbar, make a nice macro like this:

/pause 0.25;
/ui action toolbarPane05;
/pause 0.1;
/ui action toolbarSlot12;
/pause 0.05;
/ui action toolbarSlot13;
/pause 0.05;
/ui action toolbarSlot14;
/pause 0.05;
/ui action toolbarSlot15;
/pause 0.05;
/ui action toolbarPane03;

The toolbar I use during fighting is toolbarPane03 (.. toolbarpane 4). Before a fight I place 4 stacks of exo-protein wafers in toolbar 6 in the bottom row from the left (number 13,14,15and 16).

This macro is bound to one of my slots in my fighting toolbar. When you activate this macro, it will select the last toolbarpane and tries to eat a exo-protein wafer from every slot 13-16 (If it succeeds in one slot, it will fail to eat the next one, so you will always only use up one exo-protein wafer). In the end it selects your normal fighting toolbarpane again.

edit: the toolbarPane and toolbarSlot are randomly chosen really if you prefer using other toolbars be my guest... The timings in the macro are also pretty much random; this macro will take about 0.55 seconds to run.

Roots and armor break.

Root means you can't kite, which means you're gonna get beat down.

Armor break almost doubles the damage you take. Synthsteak and exo wafers get it back down to near normal.

Neither is anywhere near as useful as pre-CU, but in a close fight, you need any advantage.

I use foods to buff, which keeps the drink load minimum, so I can use ruby bliel, but I do use synth steak / exo when I get armor broke or rooted.

You mention not using arms cause of the lack of armor, I find it minimal (look at decay on arm armor versus head/leg armor on your jedi hunting armor). But if you use the Parwan and the arms, you should almost never end up in the range of the jedi..... maybe even without using your root!!
