Thread: Duelist Stance Question

Greetings, everyone.

I usually don't post much in this forum since my main focus for the CU is Commando, but since my secondary is BH, I was wondering if anyone else has noticed that Improved Duelist Stance does not work when a Commando weapon is equipped...? As Improved Duelist Stance, the BH specials (Commando does not have its own specials - it must use those from another profession), and the ability to trackand kill Jedi are the reasons I picked up BH on TC, I'd like to know if this is intended or if it'sa bug.

Any help would be appreciated.

I was under the impression duelist stance wasn't working at all ATM, does it give you some sort of msg when you have hvy weapons equiped?

I was also under the impression that commando "specials" are inherint to the weapons.

Duelist stance does not work with any weapon equipped or unequipped. It has been reported to the devs.

When I have a BH weapon equipped, i get the icon indicating that Improved Duelist Stance has been activated. This icon never appears when I have a commando weapon equipped. I, too, have not noticed any actual effect from Duelist Stance, but I'm assuming they're working on that part. Just wanted to find out if the fact that it won't work with a commando weapon equipped is intended.

As for Commando weapons having a built-in special, sort of. They don't have high damage built in - their base damage is about the same as most other professions when using the basic Ranged Shot ability. Most do havea limited state effect, though oftentimes not as good as the ones you get from a special. The flamethrower and plasma flamethrower have a flame dot (though the dot doesn't seem to do any damage atm) as does the lightning beam cannon, the acid beam cannon and acid rifle have a built-in blind, rocket launcher has a built-in KD (and very sub-par damage - as with most of the commando weapons except the plasma flamethrower, proton rifle, and lightning beam cannon).

In any case, when you fire these weapons using Ranged Shot, their damage is limited. Usually about 300-600 based off which weapon you're using. To actually bring the weapon damage up to par, you have to use the specials provided by a complementary profession. That being the case, and BH being the only ranged tank profession in the game, It made me vitally interested in whether or not Improved Duelist Stance is intended to work when you have a non-BH ranged weapon equipped.

I can confirm that you CANNOT use it with a melee weapon equipped.

Hello. I am a Master Bounty Hunter and am trying to figure out how to actually see how much your overall defenses are increased when using Improved Duelist Stance. My Melee/Ranged defenses are 253/233 respectively. When I engage Improved Duelist Stance those values do not increase. I have read in some threads MBH's stating that your defenses are increased"up to 160 points and cuts the damage on enemy attacks down by nearly 35%." Where should I be looking to see these values or is this just what some players believe this special gives them. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know the exact stats, but from experience the performance seems to be marginal at best. I suppose you can take the time to activate it during a Jedi fight when your action gets too low. Granted, every little bit helps, just don't expect CoB performance.

Do you have to be standing to activate Duelist Stance or can it be activated while in other postures? How long does Duelist Stance last exactly? What are the bonuses it imparts? Thanks in advance!

Duelist stance can only be activated in a standing position, and not moving.

It adds 250 points to your defenses

Duelist Stance lasts about 45 seconds (not sure exactly, here at work)

You can't be moving, but you can activate it while prone or kneeling (or at least I could this morning when I tried it.)
