Anyone have any luck getting Boss marks with one mission type/description/payout/offering guild/whatever than another? I'm getting tired of the 18k HAM boss marks that drop bugs and the non-boss marks that drop only slicing stuff.

It is all completely random. The description is selected at random from a fixed set of descriptions. The offering 'guild' is random, although bounty hunter guild seems to be heavily favoured, maybe a 3-1 ratio. Pretty much there is no way to even increase your chance of a boss mark beyond becoming a mbh. Even then I find im getting a boss every 5 or so missions. The only reason I pick 31k missions is to increase my payout, not for an increased chance in loot drop or boss marks.

A boss mark has double gold cheverons around his name, an elite has single silver/white ones, a 'normal' one has nothing

There are 3 general types of marks. Standard mark is around 6-7k Health. Elite mark is upward of 19k health and has a Silver Chevron to the left and right of his HAM bars. "BOSS" marks range from approx 17k-35k health and have two "Gold chevrons" to the left and right of the HAM bars.

Whats a Chevron? It would be also described as "Less than" and "Greater than" mathmatical symbols, aka arrows to the left AND right of the marks HAM bars. It will be VERY evident when the mark is targeted. If still confused, target your mark and look for color. An Elite mark will have white chevrons (otherwise called silver), while a "BOSS" will have gold chevrons.
