i know its effectivness for Jedi marks isnt all that great, or so ive read, but good a good guy to have in a mass pvp war.... but on a PVE side how does this stack up? the specials look like a great match for some of the MComm weaponry... and the range/melle def. stacks up pretty nice.

im starting to care less about jedi bounties, and more about group PVP/PVE

not to sound like a broken record but....

Do what you feel like.

I've always had my eye on commando, though only mastered it once for fun, and then dropped because it was useless (pre-cu), but I've dueled a few commandos in my time, post cu that is, and their Fire DoT is just plain uber.

But for PvE..... meh, unless you like taking all the agro due to every commando weapon being AoE....

i was just thinking b/c comm gave a decent amount of general ranged acc i coulda swap out to a ALR or something for the times when mass agro wasnt the best thing, haha.

liek you said, go with what you feel like... but i dont really know a commando so i have no perspective from a person who has used it before; i dont really know the ins and outs

ins, DoT's, AoE's.... I'd say its good for group PvP.

outs: speed, AoE's (pulling agro), lack of specials (though with BH would be good).

MBH, MCommando, I dunno really....

PvP = godly

PvJ = sux0rz

PvE= Meatbag

The flame thrower DOT is good and all but the sac is horrible and the range is also horrible in my opinion the only commando gun worth using is the Proton Rifle

Umm. No. Master Commando -, 2444 BH speaking. I got waxed pretty soundly by Humbabas yesterday. A pair of them somehow beat me and my PFT wielding backside stupid.

Commando is still terribly borked without someone else's specials, and elemental DOT is still usually 1.

Hold off on commando for the moment.

I've been BH/Commando since before the Cu (when you could get heavy weapons xp from a lightning cannon). Tried it with a few other professions on the leftover skillpoints and I love this template.

Master BH / Master Commando / Smuggler 4xxx is great against a large swarm in PvE - use something like an acid launcher for knockdown, then mez them with concussion shot, then change to a proton rifle or heavy lightning rifle to concentrate on them one at a time. This works really well in places like the Ryratt trails, you just have to run through using knockdown and concussion shot. Also great for duelling - knockdown, concussion shot, followed by /poke and /tickle

I briefly tried Master BH / Master Commando / Pistoleer xxx4 - an area stopping shot is nice, but doesn't have the lasting power to be of a lot of use.

After the new BH marks were introduced I changed to Master BH / Master Commando / Novice CM / Medic x41x - with this template and some healing bio-clothesthe 35k HAM marks are pretty easy. The DoT's from the flamer are enough to offset their regen, and an ADK'd, damage sliced Proton Rifle with a SAC power up does plenty of damage against them. Also used this temp on the ryratt trail fighting Mynstingers. With duellist stance and a few stims it's possible to fight 3 or 4 at once and survive it.

There is nothing like standing in a pile of bodies in Duellist stance, spewing flame everywhere to make you feel all tough and Commando-ish

Against Jedi? As stated previously, this is not a jedi-hunting template. I've duelled against jedi friends a few times and although I've given a good fight, and got their force way down,I've not won. Not saying that an experienced jedi hunter couldn't win with this template, but jedi fighting is definitely not a strength of this template.

Overall, if you aren't interested in fighting jedi, but want tofight marks,hunt and do quests either solo or in a group then this is a really fun template. Plus you get to make jokes about "going commando"
